Academy Day 2023
In addition, students will be able to meet with officials from all five academies as well as representatives from the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board, ROTC programs, Randolph-Macon College, the Virginia Women’s Institute for Leadership at Mary Baldwin University, the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, and the Virginia Military Institute. Staff from Virginia Congressional offices will be available to answer questions regarding the application procedures for congressional nominations.

Are you interested in attending Boy's State?
Boys State is a weeklong program held at Radford University starting on June 18th, 2023. The program is a week of learning about civics by creating their own government in a fun, experiential manner. The program is an invaluable opportunity recognized by college entrance committees everywhere. Are you interested in attending Girl's State?
The American Legion Auxiliary's (ALA) Girls State is among the nation’s most respected educational programs of government instruction and leadership development for U.S. high school students. This year Virginia Girls State (VGS) will be held at Longwood University, Farmville, VA from June 18-24, 2023.
Participants must have completed their Junior year of high school and have at least one semester of high school remaining to be eligible to participate. Candidates for VGS are chosen through an interview process conducted by the ALA Unit 10. These interviews will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 1:00 pm at The American Legion Post 10, 9950 Cockrell Road, Manassas, VA 20110. Candidates are evaluated based on their leadership abilities and interest in government, service to others, and academics.
Please return applications and Certification of Citizenship/Legal Residency to me by Wednesday, March 8, 2023. It is very important that we receive applications by this date.

Johns Hopkins Summer Pre-college Programs Fair
The Association for Pre-College Program Directors is proud to present the Summer 2023 Pre-College Programs Virtual Fair, a virtual event that provides students and their families the opportunity to learn about academic summer programs at top US colleges and universities. At the fair, attendees may visit virtual booths, where you can ask questions via text or video chat with summer program representatives. Registration is free to attendees.

NOVA Virginia Experiential Learning Conference- April 15, 2023
This conference is an engaging way for students to show off the excellent and innovative work you all are doing in your classrooms (while also building their resume!). As you and your students are an important part of the NOVA community, we’d love to see our students representing the college at this commonwealth-wide conference!

The City of Manassas is committed to increasing access to quality higher education. It has established a tuition assistance fund for City of Manassas residents who wish to pursue post-secondary education and training at Northern Virginia Community College. Through the Grow Manassas tuition fund program, the City is awarding tuition fees to its residents who want to pursue careers in high-demand sectors.
What NOVA programs or courses are you interested in?
The Grow Manassas tuition fund supports FastForward programs, select NOVA Workforce courses, and Applied Technologies Career Study Certificate (credit). You may select multiple courses or programs. Note: Some programs have additional requirements and/or prerequisites. All healthcare courses require a healthcare orientation before registering.

Prince William County School Career Fair
Food trucks will be on site for families and students (food for purchase). There is no student registration needed to attend this evening event. Please note this is open to all middle and high school students. More information and a list of participating businesses can be viewed here.
Va Tech Summer programs
Virgnia Tech has shared the following summer enrichment opportunities for students interested in various subjects. A couple are highlighted below but please be sure to check out their spreadsheet of programs at the bottom of this message. Some programs have a cost but many are free.
· Black Engineering Excellence at Virginia Tech (BEE VT) is a 2-week residential program for rising juniors and seniors targeting Black/African American students
o Dates: July 16 – 29; Tuition is $2,000 but scholarships are available!
o Application deadline March 25th
· Computers and Technology at Tech (C-Tech^2) is a 2-week residential program for rising juniors and seniors targeting young women
o Dates: June 25 – July 8; Tuition is $2,000 but scholarships are available!
o Application deadline March 14th
· Pathways for Future Engineers is a FREE 2-week residential program for rising 10th -12th grade first generation college students (neither parent has a 4-year degree) living in Virginia
o Dates: July 16 – 29
o Application deadline April 1st
And they still have space for high school sophomores and juniors in the Recruiting Initiative for Student Engineers (RISE).
· On April 15, sophomores are invited to join for lab tours, hands-on activity in our InVenTs Studio maker space and a tailgate and box seats for the spring football game.
· Juniors are invited for an overnight stay March 26 – 27 to attend VT’s Engineering Open House. Hotel rooms (Open House only), food and bus transportation from Hampton, Richmond and Woodbridge are all included free of charge. Application deadline is March 13.
