Need to Knows!!!
Week 1 is in the books! We did a good job of pushing our procedures and expectations....continue to do so, as we need to keep behavioral expectations high. Ensure routines and structures have been taught and practiced, as well as reinforced with our Class Dojo points. Instructional schedules need to be followed closely, including pickup and drop off at lunch. Please be ON TIME!
Week 1 in the books also means the instructional needle is now ready to be pushed. Walkthroughs will begin and we will be looking at how we are engaging our students. Remember our definition of RIGOR- how are you meeting each letter in your planning and execution? I am attaching an example (Grades 2-4) of the walkthrough document we will be using for feedback. You will receive a PDF copy within 24 hours of your walkthrough.
Class Dojo accounts need to be up and running for all homeroom teachers by tomorrow. Please invite the Related Arts, ESL, SPED, and admin support staff to your classes. I am seeing some AWESOME totals in classrooms. I love being able to give class points and see the students get excited when this happens!!
PLC's this week will focus on goal setting, norms, and planning. Please be prepared to discuss these items. Contribution to the conversation is expected and critical to our professional growth.
You will receive new ADM rosters in your attendance folders on Monday. These will be reflective of students enrolling and withdrawing, which is occurring daily. We will sit down and look at numbers and speak with grade levels if any balancing needs to occur. Please begin to have grade level conversations about any changes you would like to make to classes.
On Tuesday, we will have the opportunity to participate in Navy week. We will have US Navy dive team and drill team members presenting to our 5th-7th grade students during their related arts blocks. Information about Navy week can be found by clicking here
This will be great conversation for our older students about the district vision of every student being Enrolled, Employed, or Enlisted.
We will have our first Leadership Team meeting on Wednesday morning at 7:30 am in the Media Center. We will be reviewing Bylaws and the School Improvement Plan. We will also discuss beginning of year startup and any necessary changes.
Below, in the Resources and Thought Provokers section, will be an article aligned to each part of our vision- establishing a positive, engaging, and rigorous learning environment. Please read and review- you may be discussing this at PLC's!
