Message from Geordie

Afternoon everyone,

Lots of fun again this week, particularly in the sports arena! Our Year 6 students tried out their netball skills against the teachers on Wednesday afternoon which was a heap of fun. It was great to see so many teachers get involved and to have our students cheering everyone on. Our Year 5 and 6 students then headed off to their Winter Carnival on Thursday to play an interschool Netball, Soccer, Footy and Volleyball comp. I would like to congratulate all out students for their excellent sportsmanship and enthusiasm on the day – You all demonstrated our school values of Kindness, Honesty and Respect, Well Done!

Thanks to our Year 4’s and Mrs Hilton for their awesome assembly this morning. And again, to our Student Leaders and Singers for supporting them in their assembly.

Before I go can I ask parents to please not send sports equipment from home into school. This seems to have increased recently and I am a little unsure of why - there is a lot of equipment there for students to use. If your child is coming home saying there is not enough, can you please get them to let their teacher know so we can make sure each year has enough. When equipment comes from home it has the potential to create small issues in the playground and students can get very upset when things are lost or go missing. We would much prefer to manage it with school equipment.

Only one week to go now, rest up and be ready for an awesome final week!

Rainbows Program at St Bernies

When a change takes place in a family whether it is a death, divorce, separation, or trauma, it may have a profound effect upon the whole family. Research suggests that children may benefit from having a safe, space in which to explore their thoughts and feelings.

Here at St. Bernadette's, we offer 'Rainbows' which is a peer support program for children who have suffered a significant loss in their life's. Students will participate in 12 sessions over term 3 and 4, undertake a liturgy followed by a whole day workshop. The groups are guided by a trained Facilitator as they work through a journal book.

The sessions will take place after school on a Monday.

If you feel that your child/ren would benefit from this program, please register your interest on via the link below.
