Our May Crowning is scheduled for Monday, May 1 in Mary's Garden at the front of St. Mary's. Please bring a flower or two for Mary. We will start at about 8:15 a.m. on May 1.

Lunch Help Sign Up

Thank you to the parents who helped with lunchroom responsibilities this week. We are looking for additional help for the rest of the year. You must be Virtus Certified to help in the lunchroom. Please call Marla Testerman, Virtus coordinator, at 417-624-5003 to get information on how to be Virtus Certified.

Please plan on arriving at 10:45 am, check in with Ms. Amy at the office. Duties include marking each student at lunch, helping wipe down tables between lunch periods, opening milk cartons, and having a fun time with fantastic kids!

Your shift will finish by 12 pm, please return the clipboard to Ms. Amy before leaving.

Our students are busy preparing for their spring programs and project fair. Your student's program will begin at 6 p.m. on May 4 for Kindergarten - 2nd grade and on May 10 for 3rd-5th grade. The location of the program has changed - the program will now be in the St. Mary's Cafeteria. Students will need to meet in the commons by 5:45 p.m. After the program, parents are invited to the classrooms to view the Project Fair and visit the Book Fair, which will be in the Youth Room. Preschool will have their Spring Program beginning at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church on Tuesday, May 16.


Students should be dressed in their Spring or Sunday best for the program. No jeans and No shorts.

The Auction is this weekend! Please keep our school system in your prayers during our event on Saturday evening. If you didn't buy tickets, you can still bid on silent auction items online at www.jacsauction.com, and pick up on Sunday, April 30 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the commons of St. Mary’s school. If an alternative time is needed for pick-up, please contact us at auctionadmin@jacss.org. Thank you for your support of our schools.

Congratulations: Voice for Life

Our students recently participated in the Voice For Life coloring, poster and poetry contest. This year's theme was St. Joachim and St. Anne - Mary's parents. The St. Mary's Parish Council of Catholic Women picked one winner from each class. Congratulations to Eloise B. in Kindergarten, McLaren P. in 1st grade, Logan P. in 2nd grade, Grayson S. in 3rd grade, Vivian L., and Enrique C. in 5th grade who won and were recognized at the local level. These local winners were sent to the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau to compete with other schools across the Diocese. We are excited to share that Eloise B. and Grayson S. both received Honorable Mention at the Diocese level of the Voice for Life competition. Congratulations!

Yearbooks are in!

St. Mary's yearbooks have arrived! If your child ordered a yearbook, it is in their backpack. If your child did not order a yearbook in the fall, no worries! We have some copies of the yearbook for sale in the school office for $30 each.

Vacation Bible School

The Joplin Area Catholic Parishes invite all children entering pre-k (4-year-olds) through 5th grade to join us at Vacation Bible School (VBS) 2023 as we discover the hidden treasures of the parables June 26-30th. Monday through Thursday will be held at McAuley Catholic High School from 6-8pm. NEW this year will be a FAMILY PICNIC on Friday, 6/30! Mass at St. Peter the Apostle begins at 5:15 p.m., followed by a dinner for the whole family. Registration is $10 and includes a T-shirt. All registrations after June1st will be $15 and your child will not be guaranteed desired T-shirt size. Please make checks out to St. Peter the Apostle.
