Girls Basketball Set to Open Area Tournament Wednesday
Fresh off an appearance in the State Championship game in 2019, the Hewitt-Trussville Girls Basketball team will look to make another run in 2020. Postseason play for the Huskies starts on Wednesday night in the 7A Area 6 Tournament. The Huskies will take on Vestavia at 7pm. This year's Area Tournament will be held at Spain Park High School. The winner of Wednesday's game will advance to the Area Championship and will earn a spot in the AHSAA NW Regional.
The Huskies (19-8 overall) have played two competitive games with the Rebels so far this year. On January 7, Vestavia won 46-41. On January 17, HT evened the season series with a 37-33 win.

Boys Basketball Set to Face Spain Park in Area Tournament
Hewitt-Trussville Boys Basketball will travel to Mountain Brook this week for the 7A Area 6 Tournament. The Huskies are the #3 seed and will face the #2 seed Spain Park Jaguars in the opening round on Thursday. The HT-Spain Park game will begin at 6pm and will be held at Mountain Brook HS.
The Huskies and Jaguars have already met twice this season. On January 10, Hewitt-Trussville won at home by the score of 66-60. Spain Park would return the favor by winning at home on January 21 by the score of 69-67. Thursday's winner will advance to the Area title game and will book a spot in the AHSAA NW Regional.

Indoor Track Completes Last Regular Season Event
Hewitt-Trussville Indoor Track traveled to the Birmingham Crossplex this weekend for the Last Chance Invitational. The HT Boys finished 8th out of 36 teams. The HT Girls finished 14th out of 30 teams. This meet marked the final regular season competition for the Huskies. Next weekend, Hewitt-Trussville will return to the Birmingham Crossplex for the AHSAA Indoor Track State Championship meet. Be sure to access www.hthuskies.com for all news and results from the state meet.

Wrestling Prepares for AHSAA Sectional
Hewitt-Trussville Wrestling will travel to the Birmingham Crossplex this weekend for the AHSAA North Super Section event. Action will take place on Friday and Saturday. Last season, the Huskies finished 5th at the event.
Any Wrestler that finishes among the top four in their weight class will advance to the AHSAA State Championships to be held at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville February 14-15.

Tennis Opens Season With 2nd Place Finish
Hewitt-Trussville Tennis opened the 2020 season over the weekend as they traveled to Auburn for a round robin event. The HT Boys and HT Girls both finished the event in 2nd place as they each had a 2-1 record for the weekend. The Huskies will open Section play on Tuesday as they host Mountain Brook.

Cheer Heads to Disney
Hewitt-Trussville Cheer will travel to Orlando, FL for the national competion this week, The Huskies will compete on February 7-8. On Sunday, the Competition squad performed for friends and family inside Hewitt-Trussville High School. Good luck and safe travel to the Huskies!
Varsity Girls Soccer 2020 Schedule
HTHS Girls Soccer will open the 2020 season on February 6 when they visit Chelsea. The Huskies will play at home for the first time on February 10 when Hoover travels to Trussville. Coach Lauren Wooten's team will play in the Lakeshore Tournament as well as an event in Hilton Head, SC.
The Huskies will host Area games on March 3 (Mountain Brook) March 17 (Spain Park) and April 9 (Vestavia)

Varsity Boys Soccer 2020 Schedule
HTHS Boys Soccer will open the 2020 season with a road trip to Hoover on February 7. The Huskies will play at home for the first time on February 19. HT will play in two tournaments this season, Lakeshore and Florence.
The Huskies will host Area games on April 6 (Vestavia) April 10 (Mountain Brook) and April 21 (Spain Park)

Girls Golf 2020 Schedule
Hewitt-Trussville Varsity Girls Golf will open the 2020 season on February 13 when they visit Vestavia. The Huskies will compete in tournaments and matches throughout the season. HT will play at Highlands Golf Course on April 28 in the AHSAA Sectional.

Baseball 2020 Schedule
Hewitt-Trussville Baseball will begin the 2020 in a few weeks! The Huskies are coming off a State semifinal appearance in 2019. This year, Coach Jeff Mauldin's team will travel to Calera opening day (February 17) as they take on Calera and Wetumpka. The Huskies will play at home for the first time on February 21 as they host Shades Valley.
The Huskies will play in a pair of tournaments this season. In early March, HT will play in Hoover at the Perfect Game Tournament. The Huskies will meet IMG Academy in one of the matchups. In late March, HT will travel to Gulf Shores for the Gulf Coast Classic. Hewitt-Trussville won the event in 2019.
Area play will begin on March 31 when the Huskies travel to Vestavia. The home Area games this year will be played on April 2 (Vestavia) April 9 (Spain Park) and April 14 (Mountain Brook)

Boys Golf 2020 Schedule
Head Coach Steve Patrick will lead the Hewitt-Trussville Boys Golf team into the season-opening event on February 17. The Huskies will compete across the state this spring in tournaments and dual matches. HT will host the inaugural Husky Invitational Match Play tournament on April 6.

Softball 2020 Schedule
Hewitt-Trussville Softball, the 2019 7A State Champions, will open the 2020 season on February 20 when they visit Central Phenix City. The Huskies will play at home for the first time on March 5 when they play host to Mortimer Jordan. Coach Taylor Burt's team will play in numerous tournaments throughout the season.
The Huskies will also play in two college facilities this season. On March 9, HT will play James Clemens at UAB. On March 11, the Huskies will play Pisgah at Jacksonville State University.
Area play will begin on March 12 when the Huskies travel to Mountain Brook. Area home games will be played on April 6 (Mountain Brook) April 7 (Spain Park) and April 13 (Vestavia)

Outdoor Track 2020 Schedule
The 2020 Outdoor Track season will begin on February 27 when the Huskies travel to Mountain Brook for the Battle Royale. The Huskies will host the 7-Way Meet on March 5 and the Hewitt-Trussville Invitational April 17-18. The AHSAA State Championships will be held April 30-May 2 in Gulf Shores.

Student Athletic Pass Pickup Information
In an effort to increase our fan base and make game attendance more affordable, Student Athletic Passes will be available for the second time ever for the 2019-2020 school year. Every student in the district (K-12) will have the opportunity to have their own personalized athletic pass card. With this pass, students will be able to enter ALL HTMS and HTHS home regular season sporting events. The pass is $20 and can be purchased during registration as an item on the activity sheet.

Q. What is the purpose of the Student Athletic Pass?
A. The Student Athletic Pass will be available to ALL students in the district (K-12). Our goal is to make it easier and more affordable for students to attend Hewitt-Trussville sporting events.
Q. What can I attend with this pass?
A. Students that have their pass can enter ALL HTMS and HTHS home regular season sporting events. Every sport! For the entire 2019-2020 school year!
Q. How much does this pass cost?
A. The Student Athletic Pass is $20
Q. How do I purchase a Student Athletic Pass?
A. Passes are available at all five TCS schools and can be purchased through registration
Q. Do students with a Student Athletic Pass still need to buy a ticket?
A. No. The Student Athletic Pass is good for admission to ALL HTMS and HTHS regular season home games. Tickets will need to be purchased for playoff games only.
8th Grade Boys Finish 3rd at Metro
Hewitt-Trussville's 8th Grade Boys Basketball team went 3-1 last week at the season-ending Metro Basketball Tournament. The Huskies opened the event with a 55-40 win over Bumpus. Josh Powell and Carson Wideman led the scoring with 13 points each.The win sent the Huskies to the quarterfinal round to meet top seed Berry. Hewitt-Trussville used a great home court advantage to top Berry 53-51. Carson Wideman scored 16 points and Ka'Darius Barnes scored 11 points.
In the semifinals, Hewitt-Trussville fell to Clay by the score of 39-36. Peyton Floyd led the Huskies with 12 points.That set up a match up in the 3rd place game against Pizitz. HT closed the season strong with a 45-28 win. Carson Wideman scored 14 points and Josh Powell scored 11 points.
Peyton Floyd was the HT representative on the All-Tournament team.
7th Grade Girls Basketball Places 4th
The HT 7th Grade Girls Basketball team finished in 4th place out of 12 teams at the Metro Tournament last week. The Huskies opened the event with a 28-24 victory over Thompson. Zaylen Tucker led the team with nine points.That set up a quarterfinal matchup with Bumpus. The Huskies were able to knock off the tournament's top seed by the score of 30-25. Zaylen Tucker scored nine points and Ashlyn Howard scored six points. HT would drop the final two games of the tournament to finish in 4th place.
Zaylen Tucker was the HT representative on the All-Tournament Team.
Clark Box Wins Metro Wrestling Title
Clark Box went a perfect 4-0 over the weekend to claim the Metro South Wrestling title in his weight class. Box beat Barrett Bridgmon of Homewood in the championship match. Box finished the year with a 27-4 record.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) requires all student-athletes to complete eligibility paperwork each year. For the second year, this process will be done online rather than in paper copy. Any student, wishing to participate in athletics, that will be in grades 7-12 for the 2019-2020 school year will be required to complete this process. Please follow the instructions below to complete these forms for the 2019-2020 school year. Students’ forms for 2019-2020 need to be 100% complete as soon as possible. This is for AHSAA sanctioned sports only.
