The Making of a Multibillion Dollar Company
Google is a Company
One benefit of being a company is that liability for shareholders is limited. Another benefit is that it is easy to transport ownership by selling shares to someone else. Google is primarily a company, due to the fact that they own so many other businesses and names, that if one or two people owned it, the work for the owners would be tremendous.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin
Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford University in 1995. Page and Brin created BackRub, which is the predecessor of the Google search engine, when they graduated as computer science students. BackRub used "crawlers" to scan Web pages for links, which determined their relative importance. BackRub was launched in 1996 and thrived on Stanford's network. Within a year, Stanford decided that BackRub was taking up too much bandwidth and banned it. This inspired Page and Brin to redevelop the concept for use on the developing World Wide Web. The pair decided to change their search engine name, deciding on the name Google; a variation on the word googol, which is an astronomically large number composed of a one followed by one hundred zeroes. Supported by an investment from Sun Microsystems cofounder Andy Bechtolsheim, Google was formally incorporated on September 4, 1998. During this time, Excite, AltaVista, Lycos, and Infoseek were the world's most popular search engines. Although, by the December of 1998, Google was named the best search tool on the Internet by PC Magazine, which mentioned the engine's ability to generate results with high degrees of relevance to user requests.

Investment Worthy?
This company would be a good idea to invest in to a certain extent. Each month, the company goes through a series of up and down's. Google does make a mass of money each year, but also loses profit. So no, I would not invest in this company.
