What the Students will be Learning:

6th grade has finished our study of Tuck Everlasting and will be moving on to our last novel study of the school year - The Giver. Some areas of focus for this unit will include theme, story elements and characters, point of view, argument writing, and vocabulary. 6th grade will also continue practicing writing and grammar skills, including writing strong sentences and paragraphs.

7th grade is starting our last novel study of the school year - Animal Farm. In this unit we will be focusing on theme development, plot elements and characters, point of view, impact of word choice and language, historical context, argument writing and vocabulary. 7th grade will also continue to practice and strengthen their grammar and writing skills.

8th grade has started our Shakespeare Unit! We will be reading the play (Macbeth) aloud together in class, annotating and discussing as we read. Students will be pushed to think critically by answering discussion questions at the end of each scene. We will be comparing different filmed versions of the play to the original and each other. Students will also perform short scenes from the play!
