Attention 3rd Graders
Ms. Chandler is happy to announce an opportunity to help Braeburn Elementary in Houston, Texas while having some fun in the process. All third graders are invited to play dodgeball before school, for a monetary donation. The fourth graders raised $410 with their kickball tournament in December. Let's see if 3rd grade can beat them! Just show up at door 10 (gym door) at 8:00 am. Since you don't play dodgeball in PE, this is a great opportunity. Students are not required to attend as this is an optional before school activity.

Honor and Excellence
Honor and Excellence are two of the terms that appear on the Hamilton Southeastern Crest. One might attribute these qualities to our students, and rightly so, but the same terms can also describe our staff. We honor representatives of our outstanding teachers at the end of each year through the Teacher of the Year program. We would also like to recognize representatives from our SUPPORT STAFF who demonstrate excellence in their work.
We are looking for support staff employees who go beyond the normal expectations of their job description resulting in outstanding support of Hamilton Southeastern students and the Hamilton Southeastern Community.
Nominees must be Hamilton Southeastern employees. They could be from any support staff category, including: custodial services, transportation, food service, technology, grounds, secretarial, instructional assistants, maintenance, accounting, treasurers, school resource officers, nurses, etc. Qualifications to be nominated would include anything beyond the normal expectations of the person’s job. It could be a “one-time” act or a series of acts.
Nominations may be received from any person from the Hamilton Southeastern Community, including: professional staff, support staff, parents, students, community members, etc.
Feel free to nominate past recipients of the award. Past award winners are eligible to be chosen again.
If you would like to nominate someone for this award, please complete the form on or before March 23, 2018. If you have any questions, please contact Sharon Moore at smoore@hse.k12.in.us. Be sure to get your nomination in early - those received after March 23 will not be considered.
Thanks for your help in honoring the excellent work of our support staff!

To help them with their research, Mrs. Lattal is looking for parents who celebrate the following holidays and would be willing to share their knowledge of them: Day of the Dead, Tet, Chinese New Year, Ramadan, Cinco de Mayo, Diwali, and Rosh Hashana.

Important Note from the Office
Please review the dismissal procedures for Hoosier Road Elementary.
When to use School Dismissal Manager
This program is only used for those times that your child will be at school until the dismissal bell rings, but they will be going home via a different instruction. Changes such as these must be entered on School Dismissal Manager, as we no longer accept hand written notes or calls. All dismissal changes must be entered in School Dismissal Manager before 2:30pm the day of the change. If the change has not been entered, your child will be sent home via the instruction previously scheduled in the dismissal program. For your convenience, we have added a link to School Dismissal Manager to HRE's website in the Quick Link section.
The following are a few examples that would require you to change your child's end of day dismissal instructions...
- Your child normally rides the bus home, but will be going to the YMCA
- Your child has joined an after school activity or club
- Your child is staying after school for tutoring
- Your child is riding their regular bus home, but will be going home with a friend (please note that if your child is going home on their regular bus, but getting off at a different stop, you must make an exception, choose their regular bus number, and add the name of the person that they are going home with)
If your child is participating in an after school activity or tutoring that will happen on a regular basis, you can set up a "Recurring Dismissal Instruction" and select the day of the week and the change, as well as a start and end date. This will eliminate the need for you to remember to make the change each day that your child is doing something different. If it is a one time change, you can click on that day to make the change.
When to Send a Note
If your child will be leaving school before the dismissal bell rings, you must send in a note or call the office to let us know what time and who will be picking your child up. It is important that if the person picking up your child is not a parent or guardian, they must be listed in skyward as an emergency contact or we must receive a note in writing with their full name. All persons signing a student out of school are required to have their driver's license with them to check the child out of the building.
Please call the office at 317-915-4240 if you need assistance. Thank you for helping HRE staff to keep your children safe!
Dine to Donate EVERY THURSDAY IN MARCH at BoomBozz!!!
You must present a copy of the flyer. Please click on the following link for a printable copy of the flyer.

Volunteers & Lunch Visitors Reminder
Per HSE Policy, visitors must have their SafeVisitor Badge scanned to check-in to the building. Please download the SafeVisitor App (it is available in Google Play or via the app store on the iPhone) or have your badge available when you come into the school. Looking up names can lead to the wrong person being signed in.
Upon leaving, please give your printed badge to the office staff for quick check-out.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Vicki Foutty at 317-594-4100.
