Dear John
reviewed by Olivia Shaffer
Dear John, by Nicholas Sparks, is a tearjerker; it is a romantic tragedy that has you voting for the unfortunate love. John Tyree is the main character and Savannah Curtis is the main supporting character. The book is a romance novel. John is a soldier stationed in Germany; he comes home to his dad in Wilmington, North Carolina. He meets Savannah and his life is changed forever. Savannah is a student at the University of North Carolina, so she must stay in the United States. This novel is so good because you feel the longing that John and Savannah feel about being together. Nicholas Sparks does a great job creating these characters and bringing them to life.
The Maze Runner
By James Dashner
reviewed by Casie Allen
The Maze Runner, written by James Dashner is a fiction , New York Times Bestseller, and it definitely earns this title also, focusing on the journey of a teenage boy who wakes up in a box without memory. The book focuses thoroughly on the main character, Thomas, and his experiences throughout the book, meeting new people, making friends, and an enemy or two along the way. This science fiction has many characters in it that you may find hard to keep track of, once you think you’ve met them all, along comes another. Overall I would say this is a great read, and it will keep you on your toes and wishing you could turn the pages faster just to see what happens next. If you are into adventure, and horror, I suggest reading this book, maybe even the whole series.
