April Newsletter 2021

St. Vital Catholic School

Greetings Familes,

March was a busy month preparing report cards and participating Student Led Conferences. A big thank you to students and parents who took the time to engage and celebrate successes and goals. The conversations and connections made during this time were greatly appreciated.

April starts with much excitement in the Church; Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday. This is a great time to sit with your family and discuss the sacrifice that Jesus has made for us so that we may go to heaven. The opportunity to participate in these celebrations in person is also possible. Restrictions have lifted so St. Vital Church is able to accommodate more people during mass with no registration required. Mass times can be found on St. Vital Catholic Church's website http://stvitalchurch.com/ or Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/StVitalParish/.

April break starts on Monday, April 5 with students returning to school on Monday, April 12th. Take time over the break to enjoy your time together, play some games, enjoy the great outdoors and find some new adventures. We wish everyone a happy, healthy, and safe holiday.

God Bless,

Mrs. Natasha Nichol

Celebrating Our Students

Fruit of the Spirit - Faithfulness

Faithfulness is being dependable, trustworthy, and loyal in our relationship with God and other people. Students have focused on the characteristic of Faithfulness for the month of March. We would like to recognize our amazing students who show this Fruit of the Spirit everyday in what they say and what they do.

Prekindergarten Show Their Best Self: Kindness

For the month of March our PK students have focused on showing kindness to their classmates and teachers while at school. These students have been working very hard to be their "Best Self" showing kindness each and every day. Well done everyone!
Next month's Student Recognition will focus on Goodness. The word ‘good’ actually means holy, pure and righteousness. Goodness can often be seen in our actions, but our heart also has to be pure. God calls us to be filled with goodness from the inside out, being holy in what we do and say because Christians should have a heart that seeks goodness. We are not to just do good works, because doing good works without a good heart is empty.

Our Sacramental Candidates

St. Vital Catholic School has a large group of students who will be receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Holy Communion in May. They have been studying in class, going to church and will be meeting with Father Sebastian once a week starting in April. Please keep these students and their families in your prayers as they work hard to learn and grow in their faith in becoming closer to God.

Upcoming Events

Better Together Tuesdays

St. Vital School has gotten onboard with the "Better Together" project in the Battlefords. Mrs. Richardson and Pastor Deb joined forces to get our school suited with the fun t-shirts and to share the mission of Better Together Tuesdays through a Virtual Assembly. Pastor Deb emphasized that we are better together and that it is important to connect with one another, not only in the school but in our community. She has challenged us to refer to the New Testament of the Bible where it refers to where we are better together through one another. We are starting to spread this news through our school by creating posters with scripture from the New Testament about "one anothering". After that we are heading out into our community. If you own a business or are connected to one and are interested in posting some of our posters please let us know and we would be happy to supply you with some. We are an excited crew here!

School Community Council

The School Community Council meets monthly to discuss the school learning goals and the various ways they can help support these during the school year. We are always looking for more family members to join, to share their ideas and to offer their time and talents in supporting the students of St. Vital Catholic School. If you are interested or curious there are a few ways for you to connect. One way is to attend a virtual meeting. Our next meeting time and Zoom link are below:

Passing of the Torch

There will be a new face in at St. Vital School. Mrs. Richardson will be leaving us on the 16th to add a new member to her loving family. We would like to wish Mrs. Richardson and her family all the best. Please send a special prayer to Mrs. Richardson and her family as they embark on a new adventure.
Mr. Mark Barclay will be joining team Icewolves and filling in for Mrs. Richardson for the remainder of the year. He is very excited to be joining us and as fate would have it, he will be teaching in the same classroom he taught in back when St. Vital Catholic School was Battleford Junior High. If you have a chance please send out a warm welcome to Mr. Barclay.

Student Leadership Council

There are a few Spirit Days planned for the month:

15th - Formal Day - wear your Sunday best

23rd - Freaky Friday - Students Dress Like Teachers and Teachers Dress Like Students.

IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR FAMILIES

Just a reminder to parents and family members who are dropping off and picking up students. Please remember to wear a mask and social distance from others. If you are waiting with your child at the start of the day for the morning bell please keep your distance from the playground and other students. This helps to keep our cohorts separated as best possible. Thank you for your cooperation. We very much look forward to the day where we can reconnect and not worry about COVID.
