Bear Bulletin
January 6, 2020
From Mrs. Spencer:
Happy New Year, SBMS Bears!
I hope this newsletter finds you well, rested and ready to come back for a great spring semester. Your SBMS Bear staff is up at school today gearing up for the start of the new semester and eager to get students seated in desks.
A few things:
1. Homeroom Schedule on Tuesday, January 7th: Students will start in their Homeroom classes to pick up their new schedules for Spring 2020. Students who have duplicate classes, missing classes or an academic vs Pre-AP issue on their schedule should report to the counseling office on Tuesday so corrections can be made. Click here for the schedule.
2. MTF Schedule This Week: To allow children to get to know their schedules, we will host a Monday, Tuesday, Friday schedule every day this week.
3. 8th Grade Transition Event Field Trips: Students have received their permission slips for the Guthrie visit occurring January 16th and the visits students will take to their zoned high school on January 22nd. Please ask your student if he or she has turned in their forms. They can pick up another set of forms in the 8th grade office if they need another copy.
4. Campus Safety Practices: Please help us ensure the safety of students, staff and patrons of our school by abiding by the following practices:
- Piney Point Traffic: Please the school zone speed of 20 mph along Piney Point during arrival and dismissal and be mindful of other drivers.
- Cross-Walk: Please do not stop your car in the middle of the cross walk. It forces children to walk around your car and outside that section of the street that alerts drivers to look for walkers. If you are picking up your child across the street, please ask your child to use the crossing guard for assistance and walk within the cross walk to ensure that he or she is safe.
- Parking Lot Near Parent Drive and the Tennis Courts: Please watch your speed driving through those areas. We are seeing parents, high school siblings and community members driving at speeds inappropriate for the area. Please maintain speeds of 15-20 miles per hour to ensure that students, staff and patrons of our school are able to safely get to their cars or the building.
- Parent Drive: Please pull your cars forward and DO NOT leave your car unattended in that area. This is for a drop-off area only. Please be patient with parents dropping off in front of you- they may have special needs students exiting their vehicles.
