One new aspect in the revised ELA Standards is the inclusion of the Lifelong Practices of Readers and Writers, which aim to reflect the changing expectations for what it means to be literate today. To optimally support this vision for literacy classroom planning, coursework, and instruction based on the ELA standards should develop within the context of the Lifelong Practices of Readers and Writers.

In this session, participants will consider what it looks like in classrooms when these practices are purposefully implemented and embedded, and reflect on the current status of implementation across the school. Additionally, participants will consider existing/new instructional strategies that students to engage in these practices in an ongoing and meaningful way.
