May/June Character Trait - Courage

English Language Arts

In reading we've been working on a Tall Tales unit. We've been looking at character traits of our Tall Tale characters, we've been watching for hyperbole (extreme exaggeration) in our Tall Tales, we've compared a Tall Tale text to a cartoon version of the Tall Tale, and now we're going to be writing our own Tall Tales and then acting them out.

We've recently started conversions in Math. We'll be working on learning different customary and metric conversions with capacity, length and mass/weight. We'll also begin to review the year and hit on standards that we need to review and reteach to master standards.

We also just finished a Fraction tic-tac-toe project. Students presented on Thursday and Friday of last week and we will have a few presentations today to hopefully finish them up.

Science/Social Studies and FIELD TRIP

We'll be finishing up our energy conversions unit soon. We've looked at how energy can convert in multiple ways. We've learned about different energy sources. We'll be experimenting with how we can convert energy soon through a short project.

We'll be starting a unit on Economics very soon. Stay tuned for more.

We'll also be going on a Missouri history FIELD TRIP to Fort Osage National Historic Landmark on May 26th. Field trip forms are due on May 23rd!
