1. August 16th Customized Conference "Tailored to Meet your Learning": Be ready for a great day of learning!
- Watch the 1:37min video for an overview of a Customized Conference (Unconference).
- Think about your professional learning this summer. Example: You went to a great workshop on your content...what are the points that you could share with others? Do you have artifacts that would help show others what you learned?
- Think about a topic you've heard of but would like to learn more about...there will probably be someone at your conference who is an expert!
- Sessions will be held in campus classrooms with a computer, but feel free to bring your own device.
2. What's new in Elementary Science?
New Resources in the Google Curriculum Documents: The curriculum documents look very similar to the ones in Forethought and they serve the same function but with some added features:
For planning the first six weeks you will want to utilize the Unit 1 Overview for your grade level. In the Unit Overview, you will find the Pacing Guide and Standard Clarifications. New resources include links to the recommended complete AIMS lessons and new Formative Assessment Probes. Click for an example: AIMS complete lesson; Formative Assessment Probe.

Streamlined TEKS: You may have heard that TEA has streamlined the science standards for K-high school. The streamlined standards will be implemented in the 2018-2019 school year; this year's standards and curriculum will remain the same. For more information on streamlined TEKS, click here.
