Operational Reminders
Appointments, Illnesses and Homework Process
When a parent or guardian needs to pick a student up from school before 2:50pm, please notify Mrs. Matherly at the beginning of the day (jmatherly@brownsburg.k12.in.us or 852-2258 Ext. 1701), or the day before when possible. We will send a pass to the student’s class with their dismissal time. They will need to stop in the Team 2023 office to sign out, then will be dismissed to wait for their parent/guardian at Door #1. (Please note that it is extremely difficult to find students once they get to the cafeteria for lunch or their PE class goes outside. Some classes (like Choir, Band, Guard) are unable to answer phones during class. This may result in the student running late to their appointment, which is something we do not want to happen.) Parent/Guardian will park in the visitor parking area by the BHS track. Your student will cross Odell and come to you. This is also where you drop them off if they return from an appointment.
Please be sure to notify Mrs. Matherly (jmatherly@brownsburg.k12.in.us or 852-2258 Ext. 1701) by 10am when your student will not be at school (whether due to illness or because of an appointment). Students are responsible for contacting their teachers to see what they missed during class and for make-up work. Teachers can be emailed directly through PowerSchool. Also, please check Schoology to see what the teachers have posted. If log-in information is needed, please let Mrs. Matherly know. Otherwise, the student may ask for missing work the next day upon return or check schoology. Teachers do expect students if they miss and are aware of a test or quiz to take it the day they return to school.
Academic Assistance
The best way to get help in a class is to contact the teacher to set up a time before or after school for assistance. You can contact them directly by email and work out a schedule for assistance. Also, be sure to check Schoology for upcoming homework, quiz, and test information. If you notice your student has any missing assignments in PowerSchool, please contact the teacher to get more information. You can find your student’s teachers’ email addresses hyperlinked on PowerSchool, or by accessing our staff directory on the Brownsburg High School website.
