"Music Counts Every Day" at HES - The Composer and Composition that we will be listening to every morning as we get the day started at HES next week will be...George Frideric Handel and the music this week is from the Water Music.
George Frideric Handel was the son of a barber-surgeon. George's father had definite plans for his son. He wanted George to become a lawyer, but George was captured by the sound of music. George's aunt gave him a spinet (an early harpsichord that had a single keyboard and only one string for each note) for his 7th birthday. George and his aunt placed the spinet in the attic and whenever George had a chance he would go to the attic to play. He learned how to compose, and how to play violin and oboe as well as organ and harpsichord.
In 1717 one of his most famous pieces of music, the Water Music, was performed at a royal party which took place on a barge floating down the River Thames.
The music this week is from the Water Music.

This week’s question is:
In which country is the River Thames?
Thanks for participating in this program
We welcome our new Reading Teacher and Instructional Assistants to the HES TEAM for the 2016-17 school year!
Welcome Virginia McGeoch
Since my days at Wheelock College, I have had the opportunity to work with all age groups of students. I began with Head Start in Dennis and taught courses for Wheelock College to Head Start teachers before leaving to raise Molly, and twins Rachael and Rebecca. During that time, I was a part-time preschool/kindergarten gymnastics teacher. After finishing my master's program in 1991, I was hired as a Special Education Assistant Teacher right here at HES. After 3 years, I went to Harwich Middle School where I began teaching small group, intensive reading using the Wilson Language curriculum.I became a Reading Teacher and continued to work with middle school and high school students in Harwich until we became MRSD. For the last two years, I have shared my time between MRMS and HES. This year, I am at HES full-time. My fourth daughter, Shannon, joined our family when she was 15 and now is the mother of two of my three grandchildren. My granddaughter,Olivia, is a fourth grade student at HES!
Welcome Alyssa Flynn
Welcome Shannon Wragg
Hello! My name is Shannon Wragg and I recently started working as an instructional assistant. My story begins here at Harwich Elementary School where I grew up. Now I am returning to the school as a teacher with my bachelors degree in elementary education! Giving back to the community that has helped me shape my education journey has always been a goal of mine. I look forward to bringing some fun energy, a positive attitude and a drive to enrich our students’ learning and growing. Thank you to everyone who has welcomed me to our school with open arms! It feels great to be back.
