Principal Walder's Monday Memo
For the week of August 26h
Reinforcing GOLD Expectations
We need to choose to feed the positive dog each day with every student. We want 8:25 to 3:25 to be a positive story that each and every student tells themselves each and every day!
Here is a quick summary to review each of them. Remember that none of this is meant to replace your classroom expectations. Legacy GOLD is the foundation of our school expectations and your classroom expectations build upon them.
Legacy GOLD:
- Used to reinforce all expectations and given by ANY Legacy Staff Member to ANY student
- Students write their name on the back of the Legacy GOLD and place in the classroom jar
- Each FRIDAY by 2:30 PM each Classroom teacher will draw out the winners and give them to Mr. Binde's Classroom. (This is a change as it fits into his schedule better.)
- For those not drawn, please send one student down to my office to put the other Titan GOLD in the fish bowl for each grade in my office windows.
- Mr. Binde will help the 5th Grade students announce the names and get a picture for the Lightning Bulletin Board outside my office.
- Students will receive a treat and be sent back to their classrooms.
- When you run out of Legacy GOLD, you will need to make your own for now. Once group band starts, we will have some 5th graders not in band helping to make some available for you.
- These are used for students that go "Above and Beyond" to show what it means to be a GOLD Titan: Good Citizen, On-Task, Leader, or Display Respect.
- Please drop these off in the mailbox outside my office.
- I will post a selfie with the Titan Legend on Facebook and take a picture of the Titan Legend for our LegendGram Wall.
GOLD Assembly:
- Once per month, beginning at the end of September, we will gather students to review the month. You should have received an invite for September 25th at 2:20 pm. We will rotate the time of day during the year so it is not always the same time of day.
- We are going to try the first one with all students grades JK-5 in the gym as a kick-off.
- Mrs. Krebs is working on a Titan GOLD song and teaching it to students.
- At this assembly, we will draw out names and recognize these GOLD students to be recognized.
- We will also review anything that is upcoming with students.
Breakfast Dismissal Procedure Review
After 8:15 am, students will be headed toward your room after eating breakfast. If you have breakfast students, please visit with them about heading to their locker (not outside) after 8:15 am and lining up as appropriate for your classroom. For some, this may be waiting by their locker for others, it may be coming into your room.
There is a sign in the lunchroom with the following information:
Before 8:15 - Dismiss to your playground through Commons Doors for Recess
After 8:15 - Dismiss to your classroom. Walk quietly down the hallway.
Legacy PLC Topic for the Week
- Technology Distribution (iPads, Chromebook Cart storage, questions, etc.)
- Technology GOLD Expectations and Discipline Grid Review
- Intervention Time and DRA Spreadsheet review with Mrs. Preheim
- Reviewing questions on Lesson Plans and selecting focus standards
Please bring your computer. We will be in the Meeting Room.
