SDDS November News
A Season to be Thankful for Family and Community
SDDS Refer-a-family Bonus
Our enrollment application now has a question added so your friends and neighbors can let us know you referred them to SDDS. Once they’ve enrolled, you’ll receive the discount for each family you referred after the end of their first month.
Now that more people are retuning to the office and looking for care, it’s a great time to let them know how wonderful it is to be part of our SDDS community! If you have questions about our new referral program, reach out to Leigh Moss for more info!
You can now choose the icon to "add an activity" just as teachers do here at school. If needed, feel free to share information with your teachers if your child had a rough night's sleep, ate more or less than usual before school, or if you want us to keep an eye on a bump or bruise that may have happened at home. You're also welcome to just share a photo or short video from home if you'd like to share that with your child's teachers. We'd love to see what they're up to at home as well!
Did you know you can check out upcoming school-wide and class events on Brighthwheel? You can! In addition to the school calendar posted on the SDDS home page, you can also navigate in your Brightwheel app to the 'calendar' tab to see both school-wide or classroom events for each month. For instance, you'll notice that Wednesday Nov 24 - Friday Nov 26 school is closed in observance of Thanksgiving. For more news about any Thanksgiving classroom celebrations, please be sure to keep up to date with your child's classroom Brightwheel messages. Individual classes will be hosting different events this month.
Harvest Sunday is November 14th
St. David's Episcopal Church is inviting us all to join the All-Parish Harvest Sunday on November 14. There will be an outdoor worship service at 10:30am followed by fellowship and good cheer over Chef Ray’s BBQ and Amy’s Ice Cream. Plus live music and activities for all ages. Food and beverages are complimentary. Donations to cover the costs will be accepted at the event.
The Dayschool will host children's activities on the labyrinth in conjunction with our Fall Gardening Day that will take place on the large playground area from 12 - 1 pm. No sign ups are necessary this year. Hope to see you on November 14!
Save the Date: Dec 4 SDDS Community Event Kick Off
Wouldn't it be great if we could find ways to intentionally connect with our SDDS community outside of our school setting? This year, we will trial a monthly event, hosted each month by a different class, that our entire SDDS community can join in.
December our Admin team (Leigh, Collette and Kate) are kicking off our first ever SDDS Community Event by inviting all families to join up at the Holiday Stroll and Tree Lighting on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 5-8 pm.
If you're new to Austin or you've never been to this iconic event, the Downtown Holiday Stroll is where thousands of Austinites gather to celebrate the holidays downtown. The stroll is accompanied by live music, carol singing, and much more—including the downtown tree lighting.
This year’s Holiday Stroll in Austin will take place on Saturday, December 4, 2021 in partnership with KUT and KUTX with the traditional Sing-Along and downtown tree lighting from 5pm until 8pm.
SDDS families interesting in attending can park in the garage next to the church or join us in the surface parking lot at 5 pm. From there, we'll stroll together up Congress to the capital tree lighting. The event is free of charge and we hope it's a great way to bring our community together outside of school.
This is the first of many monthly community events so be on the lookout in December for an update on our January event to be hosted by one of our classroom communities.
