Updated COVID Guidance:
Earlier this week, the CDC released new recommendations related to the isolation and quarantine period for confirmed cases of COVID-19 along with contact tracing related to confirmed cases. In response, WBCCSC will implement the following guidelines beginning on Monday, January 3, 2022:

Everyone, regardless of vaccination:
- Stay home in isolation for 5 days.
- If you have no symptoms or your symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can return to school.
- Strongly encouraged to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days.
If you have a fever, continue to stay home until you are fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
If You Are Determined a Close Contact to Someone with COVID-19 (Quarantine).

Extra-Curricular Activities
Students participating in extra-curricular activities and athletics, who fall in the 6–10-day return window, are strongly encouraged to wear a mask through Day 10 unless they are actively participating in practice or contests. This includes wearing a mask while on the bench, in the dugout or locker room, on the bus, and participating in other team activities or functions.
Confirmed positive cases are still subject to return to play protocol as previously communicated and will not be eligible to compete in an athletic contest until Day 11 at the earliest, after completion of the 5-day return to play protocol in coordination with Witham Sports Medicine and our athletic trainer.
Please adhere to these new guidelines along with continuing to keep your child at home if they are exhibiting any of the following COVID-19 symptoms:
- A fever of 100.4 degrees or higher and/or chills
- Sore throat
- New uncontrollable cough that causes difficulty
- Shortness of breath and difficulty breathing
- New onset of severe headache, especially with fever
- Loss of taste or smell
As a reminder, you may reference our 2021-2022 Return Plan for any information not specifically related to isolation and quarantine period.
I am looking forward to another great semester. Your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated as we continue to navigate through the trials and tribulations that COVID-19 presents.
