- OQMS 3rd Annual Halloween Dance is October FRIDAY THE 13TH. Students are encouraged to dress up for the dance. Costumes must be school appropriate. (No weapons, must be modest, masks are ok as long as the student shows his/her face when entering) Prizes for best costumes will be awarded! 5:30-7:30 Tickets cost $5.00 presale and $7.00 at the door. Parent Volunteers are needed.
OQMS Tardy Policy
Arriving at school on time is an expectation for all Old Quarry students. Tardy students miss out on important information and disrupt the class when late to school.
- When a student is tardy to school four times in a trimester parents will be contacted to discuss and brainstorm solutions.
- When a student is tardy seven times to school during a trimester, the student will be placed on a tardy plan and will make up the minutes tardy to school on Friday's after school.
- Tardies to individual classes during the school day follow the same procedure, 4th= parent contact and lunch detention and at the 7th tardy during a trimester the student will receive an office referral.
We will emphasize the importance of promptness during advisory to help your child understand the connection of job-related skills and school. Employers often cite strong work values and personal management skills as important when hiring the right employee. Please speak with your child about being prompt and skills they need to develop to be successful.

Advisory Corner
The purpose of Advisory is to help students develop the social-emotional skills necessary to become healthy and productive students and citizens. We heavily teach our four core values of Kindness, Community, Growth, and Justice.
Retrieval Practice: The Most Powerful Learning Strategy You're Not Using.
Also, students will read about the possible negative effects of popularity in adolescents and how it continues to impact individuals into adulthood. There will be several opportunities to discuss in Advisory and we thought you may want to discuss this article with your child. See the article linked below.
Being Popular: Why it Consumes Teens and continues to Affect Adults.
SD113A Substitutes Needed
