January at Woodbrook
Dear Woodbrook Families,
Happy New Year! May the year bring us all health, happiness, prosperity and peace!
We hope that you and your families had a wonderful break. We know we made over 400 children happy in December through the 400+ toys donated during our Student Council sponsored Toys for Tots drive in December!
Thanks to the super creative Class Parents for their fun and exciting parties and to our PTO Volunteers who made it possible for our children to shop for some holiday gifts for their families at the holiday boutique.
Oh what fun it was to play and sing and work together on Gingerbread Houses, Door Decorating contests, and STEM challenges before the holidays! Please enjoy the pictures of the fun below!
We are excited to start the new year with our traditional fun and engaging events!
Our science/invention fair is now open for registration! Please register HERE. The public presentations at night are OPTIONAL. Classroom presentations are mandatory for anyone who chooses to participate.
A new poster contest has begun to encourage inclusion. Please see the link HERE for that All In Poster Contest information which was emailed to all families.
The Edison Township Recreation Department will have a contest in observance of the upcoming birthday of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who changed the conscience of his generation, through non-violent protests and speeches and African-American History Month. This year’s theme is “Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly”, from Dr. King’s 1965 commencement address at Oberlin College, Ohio. We are asking the Edison school students to reflect on these words and how they relate to themselves or others in their families, schools, neighbors or the world, through original artwork, poetry, or a short essay (100 words max). See details below. DUE MONDAY JANUARY 9, 2023.
We are excited to host our Local Scripps Spelling Bee at Woodbrook on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. in the gym. All are invited to watch the Woodbrook class bee winners in this competition which always impresses us!
It has been THREE LONG YEARS since we have been able to showcase almost all Woodbrook students at our annual Cultural Expo. Join us for an evening of songs from around the world and presentations of regions around the world at our Cultural Expo featuring your children! The children will sing under the direction of our own Ms. Tomasella and show off their research of the many regions and sights from around the world. Come to the cafe and gym on Thursday, January 26, 2023. K, 1 and 2 will begin at 5:30. Grades 3, 4 & 5 (and choir) will begin at 7:15pm. Children should dress up for the fun!!
Come cheer on your friends and neighbors at the Woodbrook's Got Talent Show in the gym on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 6:15 p.m. in the Woodbrook gym. ($5 per person entry fee for this PTO fundraiser).
