I just wanted to take moment to thank you for your choice to participate in developing your CLR mindset and growing your CLR skillset. We wanted to share information about CLR Summer Institutes. Below, you will see the flyer for 4 CLR Summer Institutes that will be offered in various locations. The Summer Institutes represents another opportunity to grow your CLR, so if you are interested be sure to visit the CCRTL website for more information. Thank you, John Adams VABBers.
Mastering Classroom Transitions, by Todd Finley
1. Secure students’ attention
2. Explain the procedure
3. Prepare kids for the signal to start
4. Initiate the transition
5. Observe
· Did I provide too many directives?
· Did the transition catch kids off guard?
· What do kids do when finished?

As I get settled into my new role as Success Coach at John Adams, I wanted to take some time to formally introduce myself. I am looking forward to working as part of your team!
Before I was hired as the JA Success Coach, I worked in a similar role at Elton Hills for three years, and it gave me many of the skills I needed to effectively manage and help students. I am eager to use these experiences in my role at John Adams as I work for/with the students and families here. I am in the 19th year of teaching (17th in ISD #535). I’m also an adjunct professor for WSU, and coach Century Boy’s Golf.
Outside of school, I also work part-time at Somerby Golf Club and Rochester Indoor Golf Center. I have two wonderful children: Clara (6th grade; Friedell MS) and Blake (2nd grade; Pinewood). Family time is very important to me, and I love to spend time in Northern Minnesota. I enjoy playing golf and am a big fan of MN sport’s teams.
Everyone I have met so far has been professional, polite and positive. I very much look forward to meeting the rest of you in the near future. I hope that we can all use our personal experiences for our student’s success at John Adams.
You can reach me at extension 85420.
