Arrival Procedures
Our main entrance school doors will open daily at 7:50am. Students who arrive before the buses will be expected to remain in the common area by the cafeteria tables. This pertains to any Grade 5-8 students who are dropped off by parents/guardians before 8:20am. Please do not use the bus lane to drop off your child.
When buses arrive at 8:20am, those students in the common area will be allowed to go to their lockers to get ready for classes. At no point should any students be going to their lockers prior to 8:20am. Sports teams who practice in the morning will remain in the common area upon finishing their practice until 8:20am as well. The morning warning bell rings at 8:22am and classes begin at 8:30am.

Please consider either letting your name stand for one of the Executive Positions (Chair/Vice-Chair/Treasurer/Secretary and/or attend the meeting so that we can nominate and vote individuals into these positions.
Chaplain's Corner
Last Sunday we saw the story of the healing of a man who was deaf and dumb. It is the beginning of a central learning section in this gospel which finds its partial climax in today’s reading. The story is a kind of parable of how we gradually learn to listen and understand the meaning of Christ’s life and message and how we then learn how to share our experience effectively with others. It is not enough to have heard the message; it has also to be shared and communicated with others. Today’s passage is immediately preceded by another healing story, this time that of a man who was blind. The interesting thing about this story is that his blindness was healed in stages. That is exactly what was happening to the disciples and we see it clearly illustrated in today’s story.

Jesus calls on us to be His hands and feet here on earth until he returns. This means that knowing Jesus is our Savior, we are to assist the afflicted to help make their lives better. St. JP II continues to do this as part of our EICS family. Last year, we began working with Valeda House assisting women who are striving to overcome various challenges in their lives. As a school, we raised much needed supplies as well as funds to help the running of the house. We continue this year to work with the rest of EICS schools in an effort to seize the opportunity to do as Jesus asks us as we continue to raise awareness about Valeda House. We also will be continuing to bring much needed relief to those in need through our efforts. Watch for opportunities throughout the school year to help us make this a reality.
God Bless each of you.
We are ALL God's masterpiece.

WHAT IS ORANGE SHIRT DAY?
Orange Shirt Day is a growing movement of reconciliation that grew out of a former student’s account of having her brand-new orange shirt taken away on her first day of school. Wearing an Orange Shirt is meant to recognize the harm done to residential school students, and show a commitment to the principle that every child matters.
Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools, and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.
You are invited to wear an orange shirt on Friday, September 28th!
