Classroom Lessons with Integrity
Kindergarten lessons will be using the program The Safe Side to teach safety lessons about staying Smart, Safe, and Cool. Keep an eye out for a letter with more information! Kindergarten lessons will be February 24-March 14th.
We will hear the fable of The Woodsman and His Ax to explore the concept of integrity. We will learn how to handle teasing with integrity using the story of Simon’s Hook. When teasing or something else makes you angry- how can you handle your anger with integrity? We will practice how to handle angry feelings with lessons learned from Angry Birds. Our counseling Lessons for 1st grade are February 3- 21st. Please ask your child about what they’ve learned!
We will watch the story of the Empty Pot and make our own Flowers of Integrity. We will also read famous quotes about integrity and illustrate their meaning. Counseling lessons for 2nd grade are March 17-April 11. Please ask your child about what they’ve learned!
Continuing to use our Steps to Respect Program, we will learn about doing the right thing when you witness bullying. We will practice how to report bullying to adult through role plays. We will learn what it means to be a bystander and practice how bystanders can be part of the solution rather than part of the problem. For 5th grade, we will move our focus from Integrity and begin prepping our 5th graders for middle school! After our middle school visits in March, we will have the middle school counselors come to Cameron Park to answer questions and share information about their middle schools. We will have classroom lessons with Mrs. Atkins about making the transition to a new school. The highlight for the kids is usually practicing with combination locks! Be on the lookout for more information about middle school as the end of the school year approaches! Counseling lessons for 5th grade are Feb 24-Mar 14.
