The teachers and staff welcome all families to the 2023-24 school year!
August 31, 2023
The staff and I are thrilled to have the students back with us. The hallways and playground are once again bustling with energy, echoing the sounds of laughter and eager footsteps as students settle into their routines and embrace the promise of new learning adventures.
The joy and excitement of a new school year is evident as our students make their way to classrooms filled with possibilities. The smiles that light up their faces reveal the enthusiasm with which they're embracing their educational journey.
With a sense of purpose and determination, our students are quickly adapting to their classroom schedules and routines. Through this structure, they are not only developing time management skills but also building the foundation for future successes.
Our results from the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) are in and our students did an outstanding job on them. A goal for schools is to have 80% of the students at each grade being proficient. You can view our results by clicking this link ISASP Spring 2023 Results. You will also see that our students have outperformed the State Results and other Catholic Schools in our Archdiocese.
As you can see from our results, we have exceeded that goal in reading in the 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.100% of our 6th and 7th graders from last year were proficient as well as over 90% of our 5th and 8th graders.
On the math assessment our 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders saw over 80% of the students proficient at each grade level. Our 5th graders had 100% of the students proficient. Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grades had over 90% proficiency.
As we reflect on the initial week of the school year, we are filled with optimism for the months ahead. Our students' eagerness to learn, their resilience in facing challenges, and their willingness to embrace new experiences are the cornerstones of a successful year.
Here are some important dates and reminders:
We will have our first school Mass on Wednesday, September 6 at 8:30 a.m.

Volunteer Night at the NE Iowa Food Bank
All families are welcome!
St. Patrick School has a long standing tradition of family volunteer nights at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. This year, we are hoping to get involvement back up to pre-COVID levels, but we need your help. The food bank always has great volunteer jobs for us to do that are age-appropriate for our students and give you the opportunity as parents to teach your kids about why the food bank is critical to our community.
Please join us on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (except March) this school year from 6-7:30pm. This is a great way also for the 5th-8th graders to complete their required service hours.
Our first volunteer night of the year will be held Tuesday, September 12. We are limited to 30 spots, so if you are interested, please contact me, Erin Youngblut, at firstname.lastname@example.org to register.
