Online Learning Day November 2, 2021
Tuesday November 2, 2021 will be an ONLINE Learning Day. The purpose of this Digital Learning Day is to address health and wellness concerns due to community use of our school buildings on election day and exposure to COVID. The Board of Education adjusted the SPPS schedule to make Election Day a digital learning day. This means all students will learn from home on Election Day. Online Learning lessons will be provided by teachers. This serves as a contact day with students. Here is a link to the schedule for the day.
ONLINE Fall Conferences
Washington Fall Conferences will be held online, your students Foundations/Advisory Teacher will set up an appointment with you on one of the following dates.
-Thursday November 4, 2021 ONLINE Conferences 5:00-8:00 p.m.
-Tuesday November 9, 2021 ONLINE Conferences 3:30-6:30 p.m.
Washington's AVID Program
Students enrolled in Washington's AVID program have set a goal of attending a four-year college or university after high school graduation. The AVID elective class provides students in grades 7-12 with an opportunity to improve on their academic skills to further prepare them for the rigors of all aspects of college. Washington's graduating AVID class of 2021 earned $2.35 million in scholarship money spread across 25 students! We are very proud of this achievement. With the fall season winding down, we are eagerly looking towards our next season: WINTER!!! Washington Technology Magnet offers the following winter athletic opportunities:
Girls’ Basketball – begins Monday, November 15th
Boys’ Basketball – begins Monday, November 22nd
Wrestling – begins Monday, November 22nd
Boys’ Swimming and Diving – begins Monday, November 29th
Please register your student for the activities above by the Friday PRIOR to the start of their specific sport. Registration can be done at the following link: Washington Winter Sport Registration

Quarter 1 ends November 12, 2021
Quarter 1 ends November 12, 2021. Please look over your student's grades with them and encourage them to complete assignments. If you are interested in learning more about how to use Schoology or Campus we have technology classes for families and have one on one help available through our Technology Coordinator, please contact Eric Gunderson at eric.gunderson@stpaul.k12.mn.us or call (651) 395-7450.
Flipside After School Program for Middle School Students
Flipside Afterschool is offering in-person AND virtual fun and free after school classes for middle school students! Classes will begin Monday, November 15th. Transportation will NOT be provided. Students must be able to walk or have their own ride home; bus tokens will be available. Students without transportation can sign up for virtual classes. Free Flu Shots
On Wednesday November 3, 2021 we will have a free flu shot clinic in the Washington First Floor Lobby. Hennepin Health MVNA will come that afternoon and provide flu shots for anyone needing them. This event will be open to the entire Washington community, including students and staff and their families. Here is the registration form that you can complete in advance to save you time that day. If your family has health insurance, please bring your insurance card.
COVID-19 Vaccine Incentives Program
Minnesota has launched a COVID-19 vaccine incentives program for teens ages 12-17. Teens who get their two-dose vaccine series by Nov. 30 are eligible to receive a $200 Visa gift card. Teens who have been fully vaccinated at any time in 2021 are eligible to enter a drawing for a $100,000 scholarship to a Minnesota College or University.
