CATCHING THEM IN THE ACT
1st Full Week of School Edition - August 2018
Great week! We are all getting used to the routine and school expectations. From the new students we hear that they love school, but not sure about expectations. This is very normal the first few weeks. While there is a tremendous amount of learning going on, students may not realize because they are busy with forensic experiments, tapping out music expression, singing along to Hamilton, involved in theater exercises and mixing colors. Students are also learning about theories, note taking, computer skills, test prep, writing, reading and solving math equations. Conservatory Prep is a busy place!
Google Classroom is up and activities and assignments are being posted. Please IGNORE the due dates. In most instances, this is work the students are covering in class and not a reflection upon what the student may or may not have turned in to the teacher. Being that each class is so small, students do receive personal attention and each teacher knows exactly what your student has accomplished and assessing ways to address challenges.
Students should arrive to school by 8:15 to be ready to start at 8:20.
Key club will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 - 4:30 with Dr. Leistner. Please join us this Wednesday for our initial meeting.
Parent Breakfast on Wednesday from 8:30 - 9:50. Topic will be Decisions, Decisions with Dr. Alexis Resnick. She has extensive experience working with individuals who have difficulty making decisions. This can range from not being able to pick a topic for an assignment, what to do on the weekend or relationships.

Getting into Google Classrooms
At this point, every student has a conservatoryprep.org student account. The conservatoryprep.org account can be accessed through gmail. Please do not create a new account. The account has already been set up for you. The password is 'conservatory'. Once you log into your account for the first time, you may change the password. When the student goes into his or her email, invites to classrooms will show up. Students need to click on the 'invite' and 'accept'. Once the teacher sees that the student has accepted the invitation, the system will then allow for parents to be invited.
Please make sure that you are familiar with your conservatoryprep.org account, have checked your email and have accepted classes by Monday.
