Curriculum and Instruction Vision

It's the end of the school year, but not the end of our vision for teaching and learning in the Rochester Catholic Schools. As you leave for summer, reflect on how you helped move RCS closer to our vision:

  • Infused Catholic identity into the curriculum and instructional practices
  • Rigorous, standards-based educational opportunities
  • Personalized instruction to connect to students' passions and needs

Did you share your faith and love your students? Did you include a new unit or perhaps a PLTW module? Did you use more technology this year? Did you encourage choice and creativity in your classroom? Did you try something new this year in your classroom? Did you spend extra time with an advanced student to help them accelerate?

Thank you for all that you do! RCS is a special place to love, learn, and live because of each of you.

System NWEA Goals Were Met

As many teachers noticed, our students made great strides this year. While you all see the learning happen daily, sometimes it is nice to see the whole picture. We met both of our system goals for "projected proficiency on the MCA" based on our NWEA scores. WAY TO GO!

Digital Report Cards

Next year, RCS will no longer send report cards home throughout the year for students in grades 4-12. Instead, we will send one final report card home at the end of the year. At the end of each quarter, we will send parents an email once grades have been finalized and posted telling them to check the Infinite Campus portal to see the final grades.

We will continue to send home report cards for students in K-3 next year, but we will work with parents and teachers to begin to check the Infinite Campus portal for grades with the intent of moving towards electronic report cards for K-3 in the 2016-2017 school year.
