Potomac Region ~ Spring Conference
Now Cancelled, But Hope for the Future!
Message from the Potomac Director,
As the director of the Potomac Region of VASSL, I know you join me in my disappointment and in my understanding of prudent action. I am grateful for the support so many of you have extended during this difficult time.
It is my fervent hope that we will be able to reschedule the conference for a later date. Librarians are strong and we will continue to serve as a foundation of support for all of our students.
With Kindest Regards,
Lanelle Hilling

Spring Conference FAQs
What is the dress code?
- What you wear to work on a regular day is fine for a VAASL conference. You may even break out your favorite librarian shirt and some jeans. Wear layers so that you'll be comfortable if the temperature of the rooms runs cool or warm.
What is the registration timeline?
- Registration needs to be completed before one-week prior to the event. Late or on-site registrations are welcome, but the registration fee increases to $50.
What meals and food are provided?
- Lunch is provided at each conference, usually a buffet. Each conference planner chooses a menu to meet the dietary needs of most attendees with vegetarian and gluten free options. If you have more challenging restrictions, you may bring your own lunch or snacks.
What time does the day begin?
- Each conference begins with a welcome at 8:30. Plan to arrive any time after 8:00 to pick up your name tag and registration information. You'll have time to begin talking to vendors and networking with other attendees. Some of the conferences may include limited continental breakfast options.
I can't attend, can I get session handouts online?
- Presenters are encouraged to lead sessions that are interactive and hands-on. Handouts may not fully convey all of the presenter's message and an in-person experience is encouraged. Handouts for Spring Conferences are not collected or archived over time.
Should I bring a device?
- All sites will have wifi available. Some sessions may be tech centered and having a device to follow along is helpful. There is no need to bring any devices that feel inconvenient to carry. You can certainly enjoy the day without a device larger than a phone. To follow the Twitter stream for the day, use and follow the #VAASL hashtag.
