Week Of December 7th

Our learning last week.

We learned about different places we go throughout the week. We learned the letter Cc and the word "go. We took our Unit 3 assessment. It seems as though our friends are struggling with the sounds in words. We will continue to work hard here at school, but please work with your children on the beginning sounds, middle sounds and ending sounds in words.

We are also practicing counting and writing our numbers correctly. Again, any help from home will be greatly appreciated. Lots of our friends are getting stuck with the teen numbers. Please count and have them practice writing their numbers at home.

We finished our shape unit and have taken the unit assessment.

We also work on living things in Science. We worked with Mt. Grace and have been learning about blanding turtles. The kids loved learning about them.

A peek at our learning this week...

This week our class will be focusing on different jobs that people have in the community. Children will read stories and learn about the tools and equipment that workers use.

Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we will be practicing.

Word Workout

  • Vocabulary: equipment, uniform Brainstorm some different kinds of workers in your community. Encourage your child to tell about the equipment a worker uses and the uniform a worker wears.
  • My Words to Know

High-Frequency Word: you With your finger, spell out the word you on your child’s arm. Next, encourage your child to think of a sentence that includes the word you. Write it down.

Category Words: jobs Play a game called “Guess the Worker.” Give your child clues about what a worker does and act it out. Encourage your child to guess the job.

Phonics: o Help your child think of words that begin with or include the letter o. Then ask your child to underline the letter o in each word.

In Math, we will begin our unit on measurement.

In Science, we will continue learning about living things.

Holiday Trunk or Treat- December 12th

A notice has gone home that we will be hosting a holiday trunk or treat in our parking lots on December 12th from 10am-12pm.

Conferences- December 14th and December 15th

If you have not already done so, please reach out to your child's teacher to schedule a conference to discuss your child's progress. We would love to connect with you and share what we have been doing in the classroom.

Book Orders- Due December 14th

Our book orders are due on December 14th. Thank you for your continued support.

Classroom Wishlist

If anyone would like to donate some items to our class, we are completely out of glue sticks, expo markers and clorox wipes.

Thank you in advance!

Winter Clothes Information

If your child wears boots to school, we ask that you send in shoes/sneakers to change into.

In the snowy weather we do still try to get the kids outside. They should be prepared to play outside by having snow pants, boots, a jacket, hat, and mittens. If you are in need of any of these items for your child, please let us know and we will work to find you what you need. If you have extra boots and snow pants and would like to leave them here at school, please send in a note and we will leave them in your child’s locker. We will not leave them here at school without a note.
