TECHniques Tech News
I have created a new web site using Google Sites in order to help share technology news with all of you. In it, you will find technology news, information about professional development opportunities, examples of student work, and tutorials. The first tutorial I have created is for Kahoot! which is described as a "game-based student response system." I'd love for you to check it out.
Professional Development Opportunities
- The annual spring NETA Conference will be held at the Century Link Arena in Omaha on April 23 &24. Mr. Becker, Mrs. Veik, Ms. Vaisvilas, Mr. Spiegel and myself will be attending.
- The NNNC Summer Tech Institute will be held at the Lifelong Learning Center in Norfolk on May 27 & 28. Tony Vincent is the keynote speaker on Day 2. He is a nationally known speaker and hearing only him would be worth your time. Let me know if you are interested in attending and I will see that you are registered.
Verizon Extender for Cell Phone Use
A Verizon cell phone extender has been added to our building. The Network Extender enhances indoor calling and is compatible with all Verizon Wireless devices. It works like a miniature tower. The Extender is installed in Room #3 and is limited by the size of our building; however, in case of an emergency, cell phone service would be available in the library. If you hear a "beep" when placing a call, you know the extender is at work.
FYI: Wearable Technology
Looking for that present for the person who has everything? Look no further. Apple's smartwatch comes on the market on April 24th. Prices start at $349 with the highest end option starting at $10,000. The smartwatch has apps such as Uber and Instagram, you can read and answer text messages and emails, and make payments using Apple Pay. If you have your iPhone near, you can make and receive calls on the smartwatch.
