I was prepared to compose a lengthy persuasive piece comparing your kids starting school, joining a new classroom and meeting friends to you, the parents, and the PTO. But, I got distracted so I won't. Instead I'm just going to lay it out for you...The PTO is fun. We have a lot of fun. And, I've met a lot of people that I now call a friend by getting involved with the PTO. We want that for you too.

Join us on Tuesday, September 17th in the Union Café at 7pm for the first PTO meeting of the year. Childcare will be provided and you will be free to meet some parents and find out the very best way to get involved with Union Elementary.

The official Room Parent Meeting will begin at 6pm on the same night...so if you have been selected as a Room Parent you'll need to attend as childcare is provided for this as well, you should just go ahead and stay for the PTO meeting.

With less than two weeks until the biggest fundraiser of the year, we thought it was time to break it down for you.

What is exactly is Jog A Thon?

Jog-A-Thon is Wednesday, September 25th (rain date Friday, September 27th). Students will walk or jog around a 1/4 mile lap around our soccer fields. Our goal is to raise $35,000 to support math and literacy materials, technology, enrichment grants, field trips, and special projects for each grade. To do that, we are challenging each student to raise $50 in donations. 100% of the donations collected by Union students will directly impact our school. Money and pledge forms should be returned by Wednesday, October 9th. To donate online, http://bit.ly/unionjat

Every student who brings in $50 in donations ($25 for preschoolers) will be awarded a pair of superhero sweat bands!! Prizes will be awarded every week during our Jog-A-Thon donation window.

How can I help with Jog A Thon?

Jog-A-Thon is a success because of our volunteers! We need your help cheering on the kids, helping them stay on the course, marking their shirts for each lap completed, and handing out their favorite Kona Ice! ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST HAVE A FULL BACKGROUND CHECK. To volunteer, please visit, https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080b45aba623abf49-jat2019

You can be a classroom volunteer and help with your child’s class or you can be an event volunteer. Both ways to volunteer allow you to be on the course cheering on your kids and their classmates. So if one is full, pick the other!

When will my kid run?

The Jog-A-Thon schedule is divided into 4 sessions. The schedule is as follows:

  • 1st and 2nd grades 8:50am - 9:55am
  • Preschool 9:25am - 10:10am
  • Kindy 11:05am-11:55am
  • 3rd and 4th grades 12:40pm - 1:45pm

If you have any questions, please email unionjogathon1@gmail.com

Movie Night is an eagerly anticipate event for both students and parents! Five dollars a kid on a Friday night for two hours. Do you really even care what the movie is?

Friday, October 4 the PTO will be showing the new Aladdin in the Union Café. Any student from K-4th grade may attend and will receive popcorn, fruit snacks and a water. Drop off inside Door 11 (we'll need you to sign in) from 6:10-6:15 with the movie starting at 6:20. Pick up begins at 8:05 and we ask that you be there no later than 8:15 to sign your child out, again inside Door 11.

Register your student for the Movie Night at the link below. A sign up for volunteers will go out as we approach the event.

Jog A Thon is so much fun for the kids that the Union Elementary parents wanted a special event just for them too, but no one wanted to run. So, the Union Soiree was born. Soiree is an adults only theme party and we need your help to plan it. Join us at the meeting on Tuesday or email Jayna at JCacioppo@taftlaw.com for more information.
