Teeland Middle School

September 2022

Letter from the Principal

Dear Teeland Families:

It is wonderful to be back at school with your students again! TMS staff are working hard to build personal connections and make sure that your students are getting the academic courses and supports that they need. We are finishing MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing next week, and our math teachers will soon be doing the i-Ready math diagnostic. Our preschool program started last week, and we love seeing our new “littles” as they adjust to this big school!

One of my priorities, as an administrator, is to communicate accurate information to our school community. I have been trying to keep up with all of the bus cancellations, but we are receiving information very “last minute” from our current bus service. We know the traffic is terrible on days that we do not have bussing and I cannot tell you enough how much your patience is appreciated.

As we move forward our staff will be using the data gathered from the assessments previously mentioned, to make sure that your student is correctly placed. This means that your student may have a schedule change. If this is the case, your student’s counselor will reach out to you to let you know the recommended changes.

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. We truly welcome parent feedback. My direct line is 907-352-7507, and email is joann.hinds@matsuk12.us

Enjoy your time over the long weekend with your family. We will see students next Tuesday, September 6th!

Jo Ann Hinds, Principal

TMS Preschool Program

Teeland Preschool is back and in the building this week! There will be a morning session for our youngest students and the afternoon program is our kindergarten readiness group. All of our students come from the Infant Learning Program and the district’s Childfind process. We would love to have more friends to play! To get more information or to make an appointment for your child please call Childfind Contact Jamie Woodside at 907-746-9222. My name is Kim Flinn and I have been a teacher in the valley for 20 years with preschool being my passion and primary position. My twin girls came through Teeland and now attend Career Tech High School next door. I feel so blessed to return to the building as a staff member and look forward to this next year. Please feel free to reach out with any early childhood questions, our door is always open.

Miss Kim
