Our next session will meet Monday, March 20th at 5:30 PM, and the topic is Helping Resolve Conflict. You can register HERE (register early because childcare fills up!) and see more details about this parenting series HERE. If you have any questions, please reach out to Sarah Burey at sarah.burey@gcisd.net.
This Week's Golden Paw Recipients
Every week we recognize students who are demonstrating our BCE credo! Our credo is WORK HARD-SHOW RESPECT-BE KIND-NO EXCUSES. Dr. Calvert, Dr. Stevens, Dr. Canafax and members of the lead team, visit each classroom to award Golden Paw stickers to students nominated by their teachers! Our school is full of great kids and we love highlighting outstanding character!

GCISD Student General and Designated Program Transfers
The general and designated programs (STEM) student transfer application window for the 2023-2024 school year will open on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 8 a.m. Online applications will be accepted through Friday, March 31, 2023, at 4 p.m.
All students (including employee students) must apply for a transfer if they desire to attend a campus other than their zoned campus and/or when they are moving from the following grades/campuses:
Pre-K to Kindergarten
Elementary school to middle school
Middle school to high school
Students who are already approved on a transfer and are not moving to the next transition level do NOT need to submit a transfer request. For more information and to complete an online application on or after Monday, March 20, click here.
IMPORTANT: Please know that incomplete applications (e.g. missing residency documents) will NOT be processed during this round of student transfers. It is very important that families have all the needed documents when submitting transfer applications.
Skyward Access to Texas Family Portal
Once a student takes a state assessment, such as one of the STAAR assessments or TELPAS, the TEA will report past, current, and future results to parents through the Texas Family Portal.
GCISD has updated the Texas Family Portal Single Sign-On through SKYWARD. This means parents can now access the Family Portal by clicking District Links and then Cambium Assessments within your Skyward Family Access. A screenshot is below.

Summer School and STAAR Testing
By March 10th, some parents in grades 3-5 will receive a letter notifying them of the possibility of summer school for their student. This is due to the requirements of Texas House Bill 4545 and this letter is only an early notification. Receipt of this letter does not guarantee that your student needs summer school, only that it is a possibility. If you have any questions please reach out to Dr. Canafax or Dr. Stevens after Spring Break.
Testing opportunities for telescoping in Math for the 2023-2024 school year are available in the summer for GCISD students who are completing Grades K-7.
Attendance Matters!
Notice the effect that being late to school has on a student! Just 5 minutes late to class will cost your student over 3 days of lost learning throughout the school year. Please make an effort to have your student in class prior to the 7:40 tardy bell ringing. This means that they should leave your vehicle by 7:35 each morning. If your student gets breakfast at school, please drop them off by 7:25 to ensure that they are able to eat breakfast and get to class.

GCISD's Parent University!!

Woods Avenue in Grapevine, Texas.
