How Water Quality Impacts Property Values - Monday 1/28
The Valparaiso Chain of Lakes Watershed Group brings you Joe Exl, a Senior Water Resources Planner from NIRPC.
"We are inspired by water - hearing it, smelling it in the air, playing in it, walking next to it, painting it, surfing, swimming, or fishing in it, writing about it, photographing it, and creating lasting memories along its edge.... We know instinctively that being by water makes us healthier, happier, reduces stress and brings us peace". - W.J. Nichols
The Valparaiso Chain of Lakes Watershed group will provide a complimentary lecture in their ongoing efforts in protecting and maintaining the lakes and surrounding environs through education, conservation, monitoring, research and invasive species control, with a focus this month on water quality and property value.
Joe Exl, Sr. Water Resources Planner with Northwest Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC), a regional council of local governments serving the citizens of Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties. Joe Exl will discuss the importance of protecting our valued watershed, factors involved, and how water quality impacts your property’s value.
Water quality has an important and critical influence on property prices and can substantially impact desirability in our daily lives, and on living close to, or on the water. Many factors such as capacity to support wildlife, and recreational potential, and overall appearance increases desirability As water quality continues to be altered by human use and activity, and in light of new threats posed by projected climate and associated environmental change, understanding the impact of changing quality in property prices and the associated property tax base is paramount.
