RAM NEWSLETTER
CLASS OF 2022
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL SPRANG
Thank you for all your hard work the 1st 9 weeks of school. The holiday season is quickly approaching and before you know it, the 1st semester will be over. Although this time of year brings much excitement, it can also bring on stress and increased anxiety for many of us. Below are ten tips to help teens and adults deal with the everyday pressure of stress.
1. Eat Healthy! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Take advantage of the school's free breakfast each morning. Just like a car needs good fuel to run, your body also needs good fuel.
2. Sleep….. Teens need between 8.5 and 9.25 hours of sleep daily. It helps you regroup and relax so that you will be ready to tackle the next day’s tasks with a clear mind.
3. Get Moving. A recent study published in the Journal of School Health shows that just two hours of extra exercise each week can improve your school performance.
4. Me Time. Take time out of your busy schedule and do something you enjoy; like go to a movie or hang out at the mall with friends.
5. Friend Time. Spend time with positive people; they can help you cope during difficult times.
6. Find Balance. Utilize your planners to help you manage your time and prioritize what needs to be done. This will help you work smarter, not harder.
7. Go Outside! Taking in the sunshine and outdoor air helps to improve your mood. Get off the couch and spend time outside.
8. Take a Breath. When you are feeling anxious, stop and breathe slowly! This will help calm your nerves and bring back a sense of peace.
9. Find your Sense of Humor! Laughter is often the best medicine for a stressful day.
10. Get your Zen On. “Zen”, or meditation, is a great way to manage stress.
Lastly, always know that the ENGC family is here to support you with not only your academic needs, but your social and emotional needs as well. If you are struggling, please reach out to an adult for support.

Want to join, have resources, have ideas, or just want to be there? We meet every other Thursday in Rm. 182. We can’t wait to see you there! Can’t meet then? FFA
Alief FFA
FFA is not extracurricular! The program is part of a three-part model of education that consists of (1) classroom instruction, (2) supervised agricultural experiences, and (3) the FFA.
Classroom agricultural education is applied to hands-on learning opportunities called supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs). SAEs include activities such as starting a business, working for an established company, or working in production agriculture.
Art Club
This year’s Art Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month to do a new activity. So far this year, the members have assisted in making new Ram heads to be displayed around the building, helped curate artwork in the display cases, decorated for the Staff Halloween Luncheon, and hosted an event called Painting with Parents on October 27th. Coming up at our November meeting, the members will be judging the Fall Door Decorating Contest between the teachers. We look forward to continuing beautifying our campus and learning new art techniques along the way.
Theatre
- Alief Elsik Stage Company is working on our current production of You Can’t Take It With You, which has 5 freshmen in the cast. It will be performed on January 10th & 11th, 2019.
- AESC Thespians are preparing to attend and compete at the Texas Thespians State Festival in November, with a chance to qualify to go to the National Thespians Convention in Lincoln, Nebraska in 2019.
ENGC Chess Club
Come and play!!!! Have fun, meet new people, and try to beat one of the masters. If you don’t know how to play, we will teach you how. If you don’t think you're good, we will make you better. We aspire to go to tournaments and be competitive.
