Vision
Standout: with Strong Hearts and Strong Minds
Mission Statement
Congratulations!
Just more evidence that you all are the BEST around!
We are excited to announce that GREENBRIER SPRINGHILL ELEMENTARY has been recognized by the Office for Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas as a school where students demonstrated high growth on the ACT Aspire! The OEP creates an annual report entitled the Outstanding Educational Performance Awards where we recognize schools with high student academic growth. We think growth is the best indicator of the positive impact that our school is having on students.
Springhill received the following awards:
Statewide High Overall Growth: Elementary Level
Statewide High ELA Growth: Elementary Level
High ELA Growth: Elementary Level (Central Region)
Self Reported Grades ... John Hattie
As you are preparing for student led conferences keep in mind the "why" behind them. Think about the power of students setting goals and expectations for themselves and sharing their strengths and struggles with their parents. Students taking ownership of their learning and of their expectations. We have always seen the amazing things that happen when we hold/push our students to high expectations. This is why it is so important that we continue that fight everyday, especially when it gets hard. When we start to question our expectations and if they are too high ... stop yourself and remind yourself of what our vision of a Springhill Champion is and then go one more round.
I can't wait for our SES families to be in our building this week and see the amazing things that are happening. This is also a time to be brave and have courageous conversations with parents as well. Be sure to include celebrations for our students AND do NOT let parents leave empty handed if you are telling them their child is struggling. Mrs. Martin has offered to help fill parent center prescriptions and she has made a video explaining to parents how to use the parent center.
Please let Mrs. West and I know if you need anything this week!
StandOUT Award
Mrs. Aitchison passed the StandOUT to Mr. Legris.
"The person that I have chosen to pass the torch to has impressed me with their dedication and willingness to do whatever is needed to insure the success of every student. This person has shown their commitment to Springhill’s success by helping organize fun experiences for our students, teachers, and community. This person has also taken notice in students’ strengths and reached out to me to share those strengths to help me incorporate those abilities into my instruction in the classroom. The person I have chosen to pass the torch to is Mr. Legris."
