SMCS Mission
Preparing and inspiring students to lead meaningful lives, rooted in the teachings of Christ and our Catholic tradition.
Greetings from the Principal
Dear SMCS families,
I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing holiday weekend! We had an incredible first week back at school! As you walk through our school halls, you will see posters displaying the "Zephyr Way." Our focus this school year is to Celebrate! all the amazing things we will encounter but to also reinforce the following: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Kind, and Believe. These are phrases which you will hear within in our school and phrases your children will carry with them when they leave our building at the end of each day.
Stay cool and have a blessed week,
Jennifer Giombetti

Parking Lot Safety Procedures
Morning Drop-Off:
Parents are always welcome to walk their child into school. You may drop off your child at the door or walk to the gym. You are also welcome stay for our morning school announcements.
If you need to walk your child to the door or into school, we ask that you use the “parent parking” section of the parking lot and walk your child to the front door.
*Parents who park their cars and walk their children into school, please use the southwest exit leading out to Green Bay Road when you leave our parking lot.
If you do not need to walk your child to the door and will remain in your vehicle, you may use the horseshoe-shaped drop off lane which enters and exits Geiger Street. Students should exit and parents should remain in their vehicle and then pull away.
*Parents may not park their cars in the horseshoe-shaped drop off lane and exit their vehicles.
After School Pick-Up
Students that are being picked up by car will be walked out the main doors by their teacher at 3:00pm. Cars can park in the “parent parking” section of the parking lot and a parent/guardian will need to walk to the main doors to get their child(ren).
Cars can also form a line in the “horseshoe” as they enter the parking lot and students will be brought to the car. In this situation, parents remain in their vehicle.
These procedures are in place to ensure the safety of our students. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Grandparent's Day!
It’s Grandparent’s Day!
Wednesday, September 13th
Time: 8:00-10:30am
Invite your grandparents or a special someone to come spend the morning with you at school!
Grades K-5 will all attend Mass.
Preschool and 4K students are welcome to attend Mass if you have an older sibling already attending Mass. Otherwise, your grandparent/special someone can meet you in your classroom.
Grandparents of K-5 can go to the cafeteria where they can meet up with their grandchildren before entering the church together.
After Mass, we will break out into two groups: last names A-M and N-Z – siblings should stay together.
While one group enjoys some light refreshments in the cafeteria, the other will go back to the classrooms for some fun with their grandchildren!
This is sure to be a morning everyone will remember, and we hope you are able to attend!
If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Giombetti at jgiombetti@smcatholicschools.org.

Dress Up Day & The Feast of St. Gabriel
September 29th is the Feast Day of St. Gabriel. St. Gabriel is a messenger who delivered the good news of their impending births to Elizabeth and Mary. Gabriel's name means "the strength of God" as he is one of the strongest of all the archangels.
This week, we will have mass on Friday, September 29th. We will NOT have mass on Wednesday, September 27th. On Friday, the 29th, we encourage our students to dress up as one of the archangels. We will have a prize for all who participate!
PTO NEWS
Let's fuel our teachers for the start of the school year! There are two opportunities to help.
Stock the teacher's lounge: An Amazon wish list has been created with our teacher's favorite treats! https://a.co/etllV7E You can either order directly from Amazon and everything will be delivered directly to the school, or purchase them locally and drop them off yourself. Either way is greatly appreciated. The list will be kept up to date so check back throughout the year as well.

Please have all food at the school by 10:00am on September 14th. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0C4BABAA2AA1FF2-september Additionally, if you are able to help with lunchroom/recess duties that day, please let Mrs. Richards in the office know.
Lunchroom Volunteers - Volunteers are always welcome to come and help with lunchroom and recess duties. Lunch times run from 11:40-12:40 with students split between the playground and lunchroom.
