What is happening in RM 16?
Week of September 26th
Focus Skill: Reading with Expression
This week we will be doing a reader's theater to practice adding expression to characters' dialogue and we will also be working on looking ahead to punctuation to help us read more smoothly. No matter what level you child reads on, a great way to practice at home is to pull out some picture books and have them read with expression and use punctuation to guide them. :) If they are having trouble, model a page for them and have them repeat the page after you.
Writing:
I'm not sure where time went this week....but we never did get to persuasive writing. I have decided that next week we will do autobiographies since we have been studying biographies all week. :)
Spelling:
Their spelling list (orange list this week) can be found in their binders. Please note that it is important to focus on the patterns in their words and not necessarily the memorization of the words. They need to be able to apply what they learn to their writing too.
The packet that is clipped in their binder is to be used with their weekly spelling words.
We will not have spelling tests. I will be looking for the application of their words in their everyday writing.
Math:
Focus skills: Multiples, prime and composite numbers, making multiplicative comparisons.
**As you can see, all of the above involve multiplication. It is so important for your child to be fluent in multiplication at this point. I really appreciate any extra practice you can fit in at home!! If you would like a set of flash cards, please let me know and I will send some home with your child!
I post links on our Google Classroom that will help reinforce these skills at home :). Your child should know how to log on.
