Recycling for a Better World
Let's Save Our Environment
Why is it important to recycle?
Recycling is important to the environment in many ways. Recycling means to take something that has been used and made into something else. Recycling prevents air pollution, water pollution, and ground contamination. Recycling helps to keep our landfills from overflowing with garbage. Recycling should become a life-long learning process.
How is Recycling Similar to the Butterfly Life Cycle
In science, we can compare recycling a milk jug to the life cycle of the butterfly. For example, when we recycle a milk jug it is sent to a recycling center where it is melted down. The melted plastic is then remade into something useful such as playground equipment.
The butterfly begins life as eggs, when they hatch they become catapillars. After a while, the catapillar goes through another change by becoming a chrysalis, and then the butterfly works its way out of its cocoon.
Both the milk jug and the butterfly went through many changes and has become something useful and beautiful.
