Job Drawer
College of Court Reporting, est. 1984
From the desk of Natalie Kijurna:
Hello!
It's May 14, 2019, the 136th day of the year. There are 229 days left!
April showers bring May flowers, or in Northwest Indiana's case, more May showers. While it's been a cool and rainy May what's not so cool is the court reporting employment market. It's red HOT! I have employers calling me every week looking to hire. Granted, it may not always be in the area you live or it might not be focused on your specialty, but the jobs are all around. Sometimes it can take a little persistence to land the job you've always wanted and sometimes you may have to work a few you don't like to get to the one you do. Remember, everything you do gives you much needed, very appreciated, and valuable experience. So, please read my Job Drawer and if you have any questions - you know who to call!
With that being said, please take a look at this week's opportunities below but also remember to go to www.ccr.edu. Click on Resources>Alumni/Employers and take a look at some of our Employer Colleagues! Each of these employers are interested in hiring. So, give them a call!
Questions? Please let me know. Remember, I'm here to help in any way I can whether it's providing resume/cover letter edits, interviewing tips, or job search guidance. Always feel free to give me a call or send an email.
Slainte Mhath!

1. Court Reporters, Hamilton County Courts, Cincinnati, OH
Please see email below:
Good morning! We are looking for court reporters here in the Hamilton County courts in Cincinnati, Ohio. We have an immediate opening, as well as others coming soon. Our job posting is on the National Court Reporters Association website. https://www.ncra.org/detail-pages/job-details-page/official-court-reporter---hamilton-county-municipal-court
The salary and transcript fees are competitive, and all equipment and supplies are provided. While the posting indicates one-year experience is needed, it is not actually a requirement. The hours are great -- 8:00 to 4:00 -- and affordable parking is within a one- and two-block radius. If you have any graduates or near-graduates who have or would be able to pass the speed tests, we are able to work with them in acclimating to a position with us.
Please free feel to email questions to me or to respond to the NCRA posting.

3. Transcriptionists, Cadence Translate, remote
Please see email below:
I have been doing freelance transcription and corporate "near-real-time" live event transcription for the past 20 years. Currently, I am the head of transcription for Cadence Translate. We provide translators/interpreters and transcripts for the financial services and investment research sector. I have a staff of 30 transcribers around the world and we provide documentation for about 400-500 hours of interactions per month. We are also looking to expand our real-time product offerings to eventually include live caption streaming for interpreted sessions -- there will be more than transcription opportunities eventually.
I am currently hiring freelancers to transcribe for us...if you are able to post a job listing somewhere, I would be very appreciative! Ideally, we would like those people who are very sophisticated with language, mechanics, usage, have an ear for accents, and who have research skills.
You can refer anyone who is interested to our careers page here: https://www.cadencetranslate.com/careers where they can read about the opportunity and click to submit an application. Please have anyone interested indicate that they are a CCR referral!
Our rates start at $1/minute, work is available 24 hours/day, and we pay weekly.
Thank you so much for your kind consideration, and I appreciate any referrals you can send my way!

4. Court Reporters, A+ Court Reporting and Video, Roanoke, VA
Please see email below. NOTE: Contact Sherrie directly for more information.
I was contacting you to let you know of court reporter opportunities here in Roanoke, Virginia. Roanoke, like many places is under served in regards to stenographers. Most of the court reporters here are over 50 years, many getting towards retirement age and would like to slow down. The reason that A+ Court Reporting and Video remain in this business is because of the court reporters. All court reporters that we work with are fun great people that work well together and are independent contractors.
After living in Roanoke for 21 years, I am a bit biased and believe that Roanoke is a great place to live. I run into people all the time who have no family here but after stopping in Roanoke and researching the area decided that it was a good place to work, raise kids, or retire.
Regards,
Sherrie
