DECEMBER'S SCHOOLWIDE ASSEMBLY
DECEMBER'S SCHOOLWIDE ASSEMBLY
DECEMBER'S SCHOOLWIDE ASSEMBLY
LET'S CELEBRATE
- The Voyagers Team and Mrs. Nelson are learning about Healthy Friendships! We kicked off with an "article" in Mrs. Nelson's "You Skill News" that highlighted recent concerns about unkind behaviors being observed at recess and lunch. Students brainstormed ideas of how we can stand up to unkind behavior. They are hard at work making an Ally/Upstander Shield or writing their own You Skills News article to teach others about kindness.
- On December 8th, the CCS community congregated for our monthly Schoolwide Morning Meeting. This month's theme was the idea that taking positive risks helps us achieve our goals. Part of meeting our potential as learners and community members is taking positive risks. Students take positive risks every day when they raise their hand in class or act as allies & upstanders. Another way that students take positive risks is through extra-curricular activities like participating in sports or music. The CCS Jazz Band embodied the idea of positive risk-taking by playing songs to the CCS community. Then, we all got to engage in positive risk-taking when the 1st graders led the whole school in dancing the "Cha Cha Slide"!
- Charlotte Central School held a "Substitute Teacher Meet and Greet" on Thursday, December 8th. We were very excited to meet these new potential colleagues and appreciate their willingness to be a part of our CCS community.
- The PTO and the Fourth and Fifth grade families hosted a Staff Appreciation Luncheon on Friday, December 9th. The staff wants to express a big thank you for all the hard work and good food that the families provided for us.

CCS PTO ANNUAL FUND 2016/2017
Annual Fund
It is time for our annual fundraising activity! With full participation, we can reach our goal of $10,000! We encourage families to make a confidential monetary donation at any level.
Read-a-Thon
This year, all students can participate in a Read-a-Thon! Please use the chart on the flip side of this page to track pledges and minutes or books read. We hope this will provide a fun opportunity for the students to get directly involved with helping raise money for their school.
Once all of the money has been deposited, the class with the highest percentage of participation will receive a $100 gift card to the Flying Pig. Your donation will go directly to fund programs and grants like Four Winds, Young Writers Project, Residency programs, Author visits, the kitchen lab, music equipment, and more.
Deadline for all donations to be turned in to PTO will be December 12th. Donations will be accepted after this deadline, however they will not count toward the class participation award. You may use cash or check to pay, and watch our weekly newsletter for a Paypal option, coming soon as well. Contact ccspto@cssu.org with any questions.
Please submit the below slip, along with your payment in an envelope to your student(s) homeroom teacher(s), by placing it in the PTO mailbox at school, or by mailing to CCS PTO, PO Box 244, Charlotte VT 05445.
