Math and Language Arts Remediation

A remediation course is recommended for students who did not pass their most recent Math and/or English/Language Arts ISTEP+ exam. Consideration will also be given for other standardized tests (SRI, Acuity) and classroom performance. Final decisions are made on an individual basis. Please indicate on the elective sheet which subject your child may need support with.

Identification process for Math and Language arts classes

SMS offers the following classes for Math and Language Arts. Students are identified for the appropriate classes based on several indicators. We look at placement test results, ISTEP and Acuity scores and teacher recommendations. Parents will be notified near the end of the school year which classes we have enrolled students in. Parents are encouraged to contact us with questions.
