Saber Speak
Dear Saber Families,
As we head into the last week before Spring Break, we are looking forward to an exciting semester. This week, 3rd quarter grades will be available for review. For all families, but certainly for families of 8th grade students, it is important to stay engaged and supportive through June, since participation in school activities - including grade level trips and Promotion - depend on academic and behavioral eligibility. As you check Aeries and discuss school with your students, please keep in mind that to participate in grade level trips and ceremonies like Promotion, students must pass 9 of 12 semester classes, and 4 of them must be during the Spring semester. Students may have no more than 1 "U" on their Spring report card by the final progress report, and they must also demonstrate good behavior that meets the expectations of the school community as outlined in the agenda book. If you have any specific questions about these requirements, please do not hesitate to contact the office.
Please keep in mind that after Spring Break, school resumes as usual on April 1st (no joke!) at 8:15am. As always, thank you for being part of the Saber family, and please feel free to reach out anytime with questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Bradley Torti
Principal, Sinaloa Middle School
Counseling Corner
To our 6th and 7th grade Families:
Mrs. Herzer and Mrs. Malais are mostly done with meeting with your students. They will try to get to all the missed students this week during their PE or elective courses. The FINAL time for classes will be this Friday, 3/22. If you have any questions please email us!
Our goal during these meetings is to check in with our students regarding class registration for 2019/2020 and answer specific questions. In addition, we like to celebrate the successes of our students by checking Aeries and for some students reviewing ways to be successful in school, including ways to access resources on campus.

Attendance Policies
Attendance Phone Line: 805-520-6830 Press 1, or Ext. 7021 (Can call anytime day or night)
Para espanol, oprima la estrella. (Llama dia o noche)
ABSENCES - Parents have five (5) days to call-in, email, or send in a note to the attendance office to excuse an absence otherwise it becomes truant. Keep in mind that personal/vacation are verified but still considered unexcused.
TARDIES - If a student is tardy to homeroom or late to school, they need to check-in with the attendance office to get a tardy pass. Students tardy to homeroom will have a 15 minute detention after school unless a parent calls, emails, or sends in a note to excuse the tardy. Excessive tardies to classes will affect "citizenship" grade.
EARLY PICK-UPS - We encourage parents to call-in ahead of time (or send in a note or email) for early pick-ups so that we can have the student in the office ready to go. Anyone checking-out a student must be listed on the student's emergency contact list, be 18 years or older, and must show a valid ID.
