Students of all racial and ethnic backgrounds can learn more about postsecondary options while possibly getting a scholarship or on-the-spot college admission by participating in next month’s Black College Expo.
As part of the San Diego County Office of Education’s commitment to equity, we have partnered with the National College Resources Foundation for this event, which will be from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 18.
The expo will include representatives from about 50 historically black colleges and universities. It will be completely virtual this year, giving even more students the opportunity to take part. Students will get all the advantages of the in-person event without having to worry about transportation.
High school students and education professionals can register for free.
Students who plan to attend also have the chance to win a scholarship from the National College Resources Foundation by submitting a short essay by Feb. 8.

The Global Health Leaders Virtual Conference at Johns Hopkins University
Price: $39 USD
What: The international conference is a Johns Hopkins University student and faculty-led program within the JHU Undergraduate Program in Public Health Studies. At this conference, students learn about issues in global health, public health, and medicine directly from world leaders in these fields, forge friendships and connections with like-minded exceptional students, and share their own work and ideas on global health-related topics by presenting in our student speaker series. Additionally, this conference is a unique opportunity for students to include in their future interviews, essays, applications, and resumes. The purpose of the program is to develop the next generation of leaders in global health, public health, and medicine.
Virtual conference programming (such as featured speaker presentations, student presentations, etc.) will be held throughout the spring/early summer of 2021. The fee for this year’s conference is still to be determined, but it will be no greater than $39 USD. If this fee places a significant financial burden on a student’s family, we ask the student to inform us upon their acceptance to our program, as we do not want our conference fee to be a barrier for any deserving student. There is no conference application fee.

- Masterclass lecture series: Students are connected to accomplished young adults around the world. Students have the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship from Forbes 30 Under 30 recipients, science research from International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) grand prize winners, and other topics from speakers with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
