Coralville Central - the place to be!

No School Friday, October 4th and Monday, October 7th

Classes will not be in session on Friday, October 4th and Monday, October 7th for staff in-service days. Classes will resume on Tuesday, October 8th at 7:55am.

After School Playground Policy

Central Cares is the after school program which is governed by DHS. We have strict regulations on ratios and supervision of children who are in our specific care. While we will not ask non-program children to leave the playground entirely, as long as school expectations are being met, we will most likely ask them to play in a separate area from our program children. This is due to licensing standards and the strict ratios we have to maintain. I am happy to answer any questions and can be emailed at

Thank you for your cooperation,

BASP Director

Is your family interested in extra food over weekends and school breaks?

Coralville Central is lucky to partner with Sanctuary Community Church for a program called COUGAR CHOW. The COUGAR CHOW program provides a food pack of kid-friendly, non-perishable food for your child on weekends and school breaks.

Items may include pop-top canned meals, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, cereal, fruit juice, shelf-stable milk, fruit and granola bars. All food will be placed into a food bag and put in your child's backpack at the end of the school week.

To participate in this awesome program, contact Becca Bender, Student and Family Advocate at 319.688.1104 or

VNA Flu Immunization Clinic

The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) is a local, non-profit organization. Proceeds from its flu vaccination program help provide home care services to individuals who are ill and/or disabled, who are living in poverty, are uninsured, or who require services that their insurance does not cover.

The VNA will hold a Flu Vaccination Clinic at Coralville Central on Wednesday, October 23rd from 3:00 to 6:00pm in the Teacher's Lounge. The clinic will offer: Flu Shots QIV, High Dose Flu (for ages 65+ years) and Pneumonia Vaccine (PPSV23 & PCV13). The Pneumonia Vaccine is available upon prior request. To reserve a dose call the VNA at 319-337-9686, ext. 1155.

The VNA will directly bill your medical insurance. Please bring your current insurance card with you you. Any un-covered amount will be your responsibility.

Vaccines will be available at no charge to children enrolled in Medicaid or children who do not have insurance.

Flu protection is recommended for everyone ages 6 months and older.

Get your family vaccinated and scare away the flu virus this fall! Join us on October 23rd and say "BOO to the flu!"

Fall Parade and Parties

The Coralville Central Fall Parade will be held on Thursday, October 31st at 8:15am. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students may dress in fall favorite apparel that is appropriate for the school setting. We ask that students not wear face paint or bring toy weapons as part of their outfit. Students may come to school dressed and ready to participate in the parade, but should bring a separate set of clothes to wear for the remainder of the school day.

The parade will begin downstairs in the Kindergarten hallway, make its way to the main floor, circle through the gymnasium and end back in the students' homerooms. Parents are invited to view the parade, and may line the hallways and gym along the parade route.

Students who do not wish to participate in the Fall Parade will be offered an alternative activity in which to participate. This activity will be inclusive to students of all ages and beliefs.

Fall parties will be held at the convenience of each classes' schedule. Please contact your child's homeroom teacher for times and details.
