Grant Application 2023
PO Box 303 Roebling, NJ 08554
2022-2023 FTEF Grant Criteria and Considerations
The Florence Township Education Foundation aims to support innovative and creative educational programs for the students and the faculty to enhance the excellence at our schools. Please look over the following information to make sure that you are completing and presenting a complete and grammatically correct application for review by the grant committee.
Guidelines:
Please submit a copy of your application on or before the stated deadline of April 21st. All purchase quotes should include S&H charges. If you are using Amazon, please create a wish-list and share it with ftef@florence.k12.nj.us and print a copy for the application. We shop using a Prime account so there will be no S&H costs.
Each application must be approved by the school administrator, the technology director (if technology programs/equipment is being requested) and the superintendent. Please allow 2 business days for the Technology Director to sign so that he has time to research and verify the product will work with our equipment.
If your grant application requires installation of equipment or training of any kind please include the costs of these in your application and submit price quotes for these services.
Do not skip items. Please use N/A if there are items that are “not applicable.”
Budgets and expenses must be precise and include all applicable fees.
Items that will generally not be considered by the committee
- Furniture or facilities for infrastructure improvement
- Classroom consumables (that are normally part of the school budget)
- Salaries or stipends
- Items that benefit an individual student
- Snacks or food to be served during programs
- Transportation to or from events
- Supplies/items that should be provided by the district as part of the regular budget.
- Funds for non-specific expenses.
- Items that are to be used for extracurricular organizations/events that are supported or funded with monies from booster groups and are stipend paid positions
- Grants that have already been approved for two years through the FTEF
- enhance the existing academic programs, curriculum, guidance or counseling functions
- impact a broad number of students and have lasting and sustainable educational value.
- be innovative and creative in teaching and/or learning
- implement new and experimental methods of teaching
- have results that are evaluated by some measure of quality and be expanded if successful
Eligibility:
All teachers, staff members, departments, teams and interdisciplinary teams are eligible and encouraged to apply for grants from the FTEF.
Grant Winners:
Grant recipients are expected to be available to the FTEF for the purpose of publicizing their projects to parents, teachers and the local community through school publications, local newspapers and other media outlets. The presentation of grants will be held at the September 2023 Board of Education meeting. We ask that all grant winners be available to attend this meeting.
As the Foundation has several fundraising events throughout the year it would be appreciated that staff and teachers volunteer at one event as a gesture of good will.
FTEF will request photos of the grant in action and statements explaining the project for use on the FTEF website and other outlets as the FTEF sees fit.
Grant recipients are asked to include the following statement when presenting the grant in any public forum. “This project is made possible (in whole or in part) by a grant from the Florence Township Education Foundation.”
Materials, equipment and supplies purchased with FTEF grant monies become the property of the Florence Township School District and will be stored at the school where the project takes place. If a teacher changes job titles, the grant stays with the grade level/department it was written for. If applicable, FTEF stickers will be given to the grant recipients to be placed on purchased equipment.
Questions to ask, before submitting a grant proposal:
Am I submitting the application by the deadline with appropriate signatures?
Are all sections filled out completely and concisely?
Are the implementation details clearly defined?
Is the budget plainly defined with appropriate purchase amounts?
Does the proposal submission contain the appropriate back-up documentation about the program and budget details?
Does the grant show a clear benefit to Florence Township students' education?
Is the cost reasonable for the scope of the project and for the number of students that will benefit?
