First Grade News
We will not have a spelling test this week! We will review the word chunks we learned so far. We will practice our Daily 5 centers. We will write the letters R and r. We will have new math centers today. Our focus today is how to make and use a number line.
We will learn about being a Digital Citizen today. We will learn about these topics: Staying Safe Online, What is a Digital Footprint?, How to "Screen Out the Mean", Using Keywords to Search Online, and Finding Sites that are RIGHT for us. We will become good Digital Citizens today!
We will practice using the Writing Center to become better writers. We will practice Daily 5 centers. We will write the letters S and s. We will learn about What a Scientist Does. We will learn how we can be scientists too. We will practice observing objects using our senses.

SAVE THE DATES: We will be going on a science observation field trip on Wednesday, October 21st. Watch for details coming home soon! Chaperones will be needed! On Friday October 30th, we will celebrate reading with a Flashlight Reading event in our classroom, from 2:00-2:30. ALL parents are invited to spend time reading in the dark (with a flashlight) in our classroom. More details are coming soon!
We have finished our work on school rules, expectations, and consequences. Please review the behavior expectations document (copy sent by email) with your child. It is important that your child understands that students, parents, and teachers all work together to ensure success at school. Classroom rules help to make sure we can all do our jobs!
Here is the current version of our classroom directory. You can use the directory to send birthday invitations, or to connect with other families from our class. If there are changes to the directory I will revise it here.
NOVEMBER 2015 REFERENDUM INFORMATION
On November 3, our school district will be asking our community to vote on three ballot questions. The hope is that Middleton families are informed about the facts of the election. Below are the remaining dates, times, and locations where district administrators will be presenting specific information on how students and taxpayers will be affected. You may attend any session that fits your schedule. Also please take the time to read the weekly updates titled Parent News sent from the district and information found on the district website
