The Weekly Highlander
A Message from the Principal
This week at Hewes we announced our Teacher of the Year, Mrs.Magnuson, one of our 6th grade Core Teachers. She will be honored at the TUSD Teacher of the Year dinner that will be held in May. If you miissed the weekly email with "This week in TUSD", please take a look at the first minute that features Mrs.Turner and our students in 6th Grade Core. The video is linked HERE.
Our PTA was busy this week hosting our Honor Roll Social for students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher on Wednesday. Students received certificates and spent time with their friends enjoying a delicious ice cream. Our PTA team came onto campus at lunch on Friday to provide fun games and activities for our students. We are so thankful for this dedicated group of community members that volunteer their time at Hewes. If you are interested in taking a role in the PTA for the 2024-2025 school year, please email me at email@example.com.
As we plan for the 24-25 school year, we are going to start sharing information each day on the incredible elective options at Hewes. During morning announcements, one elective will be highlighted and the information will be emailed to parents and students for review. We will be sharing with students in homeroom on February 14th the process for selecting electives for next year. Details of each step and important deadlines will be emailed to parents so that you are in the know of what is going on.
Please stay connected to Hewes by checking our website and following us on Instagram @heweshighlanders for the latest information and news.

Parent Input Requested
Each year TUSD gathers feedback on the design and implementation of the district’s priorities for the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), guiding how to best allocate funding and resources for the 2024-25 academic school year. To accomplish this, we are gathering TUSD family input through the administration of the 2024-25 Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) Survey.
Let us know what is most important to you in your child’s education by completing this survey! We hope that you participate and respond to this survey by February 16, 2024.
Save the date...details including cost and permission slips will be shared later
