He was born in Italy in 1483. His mother died when he was 8, and his father died shortly after when he was 11. He was then raised by his uncle, a priest. He worked as an apprentice under master Pietro Peruqino. Raphael was declared a master of is art at the age of 18. His first documented work was the Baronci altarpiece for the church of Saint Nicholas of Tolentino. He never married, but he was said many affairs, mainly with Margherita Luti. His premature death was caused by a night of excessive sex with Luti, after which he fell into a fever and, not telling his doctors that this was its cause, was given the wrong cure, which killed him.
Deliverance of Saint Peter
This is my favorite work of Raphael, because it makes me think of a mid-evil action movie. It has good contrast of colors with the dark colors of the knights and background, and the bright colors of the angels. It also has an obvious focal point in the center. The work also has symmetry.
